So, me and the Pegasus have gotten an S2000 an a fox body mustang in the last three days.
Race 1: S2000, from a 40 roll. I had two passengers, he had 1 (me 3 total, him 2 total). We both honked down, and I took off starting in second. I over-revved second and he pulled slightly ahead. But through third and fourth I was constantly gaining until at 110 there was about a fender to my credit. I think driver and driver in our cars and without my over rev, I'd of gotten a half a car to a full car on him. We talked for a bit after, driver was new to car, but he'd raced a mustang before and he was pretty comfortable with losing to Mustang's by now. He had just exhaust, but it sounded real nice. I wouldn't want such a torque-less car, but it was definitely enviable. BTW, they're interiors are WAY nicer.
Race 2: Blue fox body mustang was revving at me from the light. He was actually going straight and I was turning off, but who am I to pass up a challenge? I jumped back into a straight lane once traffic cleared out and followed him up L street, we got next to each other and started hauling ass. Right at the end of second, his nose went down and I gained almost half a car instantly... I thought he was shutting down... so I let off it and then he took off like a bat out of hell gaining all my spread and then some. My thought, what the hell? So I laid back into it, and towards the middle of third we both shut back down with me a half a car ahead of him. Still, that car sounded AWESOME, and if you're on this board, your car is sick.
I know, street racing is bad, blah blah. but me and the GT are starting to mesh and I'm getting some kills I am actually proud of.
Royal Purple engine oil, Royal purple synchromax gear oil, K&N air cleaner, I've removed the intake silencer, and wider tires, other than that, nothing that might improve or detriment performance. And from a roll, my wheels probably hurt me.

Ok so your stock then. Nice kills.

oil isnt a mod is it nice race's was the fox stock?
Not really. Stock oil is motorcraft 5w20. Considering the difference I noticed, and it being similar in intensity to my K&N filter, it was worth listing as a "Mod" since it is a deviation from stock, it DID cost me decent money, and it made for a noticeable difference. The fluids in the gearbox and engine are probably responsible for almost as much power as the K&N filter. I wouldn't know how much that is, but it's definitely better than stock.

Your but dyno must be sensative as hell (Sensative but, He He He) The K & N might have gave you 1WHP and the oil isn't going to increase power to the wheels at all. Most people cant tell the difference in a 13 flat pass and a 13.5 pass til they see the slips. And it takes ruffly 15 horsepower to cut off a 1/0th at the track so I seriousaly doubt you can fell any difference from changing brands of oil..

Perhaps it's not so much just in the butt dyno. I refuse to believe it didn't drastically improve fluidity. One of the things I noticed right off the bat was how much easier it started. I can't describe how it feels during every day use, but I do notice a difference. And I feel every bump in the road, so there's got to be some sensitivity there.

You guys don't know that oil gives you 15 rwhp. Stupid ^^^^
Hah, I wasn't looking for that. But you know, I wouldn't be surprised if between my gear oil and engine oil I gained about 5. There's a noticeable difference from the second startup (first sounds like I dropped spoons in there, obviously).
There was a difference, even if it's fun to pick on people about, and with the K&N filter yielding so little, they're probably even (oil and filter).

Dude bro, I was being 100% sarcastic. You maybe will see .1RWHP from oil change. Gear oil wouldn't affect your horsepower. Engine oil lubricates, so whenever you do an oil change you notice a difference. Royal purple is just a higher grade lubricant.

Stock motorcraft will do the same thing from second startup, chugging and generally hating you. Seems most GT's I ran into did that. Royal purple cured that and several other things, but I don't wanna discuss it. Moving on. I beat two cars...
And another guy asked if the fox was stock. I wouldn't know, I guess. We didn't talk after the race. The sound was way different from a stock fox, but had stock tips, so maybe it was cut off, but I couldn't tell you. Didn't seem loud enough for cut offs. Perhaps he had H/C/I, I know that's usually first base for fox owners.

i can see a 5-7hp gain thinking about it.
i mean if it reduced friction in the engine that will give you X gain and the if the DT also has less friction freeing up more hp the k&N is good fro about 2-3whp, so i can see a 5rwhp gain....but i dont think it would be noticable on the street/strip

No, not the power gains, definitely not. But the symptoms make me believe it's there.
regardless of what hp gains/ lack of you got good races.
Well, I am still kicking myself for screwing them both up. The first one I over revved and the second one he miss shifted so bad I thought he was shutting down. If I'd of kept going on the second I'd of ruined him. First one, well, I was just being newb but had the car been empty and I wouldn't of miss shifted... god not doing your best is almost as bad as losing!

just because your engine is running smoother doesn't make it faster.... ...
less friction= better right, but by your logic your saying someones else that is not lubed up at all will perform the same as a well lubed engine? better heat dispersion and cooling WILL allow for more gains and a better oil disperses heat and maintians viscosity.

On horsepower TV a few years back they dynod a camaro before and after a royal purple oil change and it picked up I believe right around 7rwhp. I dont know if Id mention it as a modification personally but it does pick up a bit more power.

Um, there are expensive mods that don't give that much. By that logic, why tell people you have long tubes or cat back?
