I am putting in a push button start on my 67 coupe. The only problem is I don't know what wires to connect. Need some help wiring it up correctly so I don't mess it up.

look at the back of the ignition if you can.

i dont have my '65 manual in the house otherwise i could look in it quick and see what the 65 was for you to try on the 67

to the starter solenoid 1 to the post were the + pos cable go's 1 to the little stud should be the 1 next to the +pos cable. there should be 4 post on it 2 big and 2 little if it's like stock one's DON'T hook to the post were the cable that go's to the starter a switch wont carry the load

if you want your starter push botton _inside_ the car and not in the engine bay (sorry quesey) ...

a switch has 2 contacts and they need to bridge the same way as the ignition switch does.

if you check on the 67 wiring diagram

you'll find that the ignition switch has the following ports:
C - with a pink cable (changing to brown) going to starter relay
S (starter) - being Red/Blue going to starter relay as well. This will have 12v+ once you have the key in start position
A (alternator) - bunch of cables to that one including black-green, blue-red (careful not confuse with red-blue), and green red.
B (battery) - constant battery+

so from this, when you want to start the car you will need:
12v+ on C (that's already done by ignition key)
and
12v+ on S (that's done when you turn key to start position).

So if you want to replace that with a push button starter, then I would connect:
Battery+ (B) and Starter (S) with your push button switch.
Make sure you get the type switch that connects the 2 points when pushing, not disconnecting them ;-)

Thanks a bunch. It took me 10 minutes to hook it up. But like another 30 to put it in. Works Great!

What did you end up doing? Could you post a picture of the finished product, I was thinking of doing the same thing? And which wires went with what?

I will post pics tomorrow. I did what kalli said to do. But the only problem is that you don't have to have the key in the ignition to have it start. So i am going to buy a toggle switch for the power to it.

But I ended up splicing the wires into the others and connected them to the swtich. Then I replaced my cigarette lighter with the switch.

im guessing that the 60s cars dont have the locking steering wheel like the 70s..i thought about doing that to mine, but dont want to deal with a lock devise at the moment hahah. looking forward to seeing pics!
