Who do you think was the one that designed the s197? Wasn't a good ole American Ford guy.

you mean Japanese, right?
and it's just appearance mods, and the boss is a gt and no boss 302 motor. i'll bet it costs an arm an a leg. so i dont think these are real boss or bullitt's, but a package put together to cost the consumer more. one thing is good, they didnt put the bullitt or boss w/ a side order of rice.

i just like that bullitt a lot more...minus the stupid side scoops...

just an appearance package, yeah, but does anyone really notice the difference between a bullitt and a regular gt or gt/cs? yes, there are differences, but basically it's the green paint that gets teh attention - and the louvers almost perfectly mimic those of the 68...if i lived in japan and had a good job there, i'd get one lol

I think they are both great.
The Bullitt has the extra mods that many wanted, but which some feel aren't necessary for a daily driver. Although I notice it doesn't have the extra HP that the Ford Bullitt does. And a V-6 Bullitt is just wrong, but maybe there's a lot of demand for smaller engines over there. I noticed the steering wheels weren't on the right. Thought they needed that in Japan.

I love the Boss treatment and I've saved that pic as that's pretty much the hood stripe I want someday. That's close to what Ford should have as an option for the U.S.... along with the 5.0 or 5.4 engines!

well i'm pretty sure gas in japan is pry twice what it is here...idk that for a fact, but that'd be my guess...kinda in the same boat asbmw, mercedes, and porsche in germany - build quick, fast cars for the autobahn, but HAVE to get at least decent mileage with their prices

I want those side mirrors with the turn signals on the Boss Mustang! Never seen one like that before. I knowit's not the one offered by Blue Oval Industries. BOI's has the same shape asOEM but with the addition of the turn signals. The Boss ones are more curved/aerodynamic. I likey!

most respectable people in japan do not rice out there cars. The drift scene there is huge and its all about JDM and keeping the cars funcational and performance. The whole ricer thing was the US doing from hollywoods prospective on what is cool. I go to japan allot for the military and being a 1/4 japanese :) I have family there and sure there are riced out cars in japan like there are every where but all the true tuners there really clown on that the same way we do as well.

I found the mirrors on that Japanese site. Those mirrors are what Ford should've put on the Mustang instead of the current truck mirrors.

In 2006,I spend two weeks inJapan traveling from Iwakuni to Misawaand 2 weeks in Okinawa for business.
The only place I saw riced out cars was Okinawa and thats probably because of all the US militarythere.

I work for JAL and have been spending at least two weeks a month for the last nine years in Japan. I have seenthree2005+ GT's in Japan since they came out, 1 in Osaka and the other two in Tokyo. Granted, I spend more time in Narita than anywhere else. I was shocked when I saw the one in Osaka. Mustangs (any V8 for that matter) are very rare in Japan. Gas is double the price but if you can afford one over there, you don't care. Seen a bunch of SN95's, mostly V6's though.

Dont you guys think u need to cut them a break. Also, isnt the whole rice thing an american thing to do to a honda.

And dont think they cant make a sport car; the new skyline is nasty. they also ruled the 90's w/ their cars.

They have to cater to the taste of their local customers....that's why when you travel to europe you will see Ford vehicles there that you will not see in the US...no market here...

i like some of the 90s jap cars...considered getting an older skyline, but they look just like a civic imo and i couldn't figure spending over 10K on a car that was over 10 years old - be better of getting a vette or a police package camaro...

i guess i titled it wrong anyway - its a company that takes these cars to japan already modified, so pry modded in america of chinese parts and then taken to japan, so really japan didn't do anything, they just get the benefit of some sweet american cars

i had a hyundai for awhile(it's korean, i know)...but, maybe if i put a big R on the hood it woulda went faster :D

that is strange though...where'd all this "tuner car" craze come from? i know fast and the furious made it huge, but there were cars like that before that movie...hmmm...i tried looking up the origin, but to no avail...here's what i found though...

"More contemporary use of the term rice burner, along with the prefix rice, has taken on an alternate pejorative meaning for an automobile that has been modified to give impression of high performance, but does not necessarily have any high-performance capabilities"

I believe this whole Honda frenzy started around the 80s, when most people where buying Japanese cars like civics and accords because lets face it; we could not build good cars in the 80s. It was only a matter of time when parents would hand there cars down to there kids; and boom; kids wana go fast. Now it is a dif story, where people will go out and buy a civic to race but that’s how I believe it start.

Because driving in a straight line for 10 seconds, or driving in a big circle is alot more difficult, right?
