Default May be the dumbest thing I have done thus far!!

OK, on my way home, stopped at a red light at the intersection of two farily busy roads. (not california busy..live in MI) A early to mid 90's Dodge Dakota Sport pulls up next to me. The driver, a middle aged mexican man. Light turns green, he floors it outa nowhere. Completely unexpected. So, I kind of laugh, and step on it (by this time I actaully decide to step on it he is a good 20 car lengths ahead of me.) In no time i went from idleing away from a stop light to drag racing on the street. Well, anyway, I catch up to, and pass him in no time, meanwhile he still has it floored. I get about 10 lengths on him when I realize I should slow down as we are approching heavier traffic. We pull up to the next light and I have a cocky smirk on my face, he smiles and nods his head in satisfaction for me. and we go our seprete ways.
Now, why it is stupid beyond just racing on the streets:
1. My ball joints are real bad, and need to be replaced asap.
2. My back tires are completely bald, and the sidewalls are getting rubber rot.
3. My frot tires are real old, and possibly "recaps" or "retreads" and the tread is begenning to seperate from the rest of the tire.
4. Its racing on the street, with a lot of people around. Never the less..it was kinda fun.

I have a friend and his buddy that did that same thing. Turned out it was an unmarked State Trooper vehicle. My friend losthis license for six years. That may seem too long, but the problem was the day before that happened two guys were drag racing and one of them wrecked and was killed. The Police had absolutely no tolerance.Stay safe! Watch your six!

I grew up in a small town with lots of country roads and one in particular which had no houses or cross roads for two miles and was as flat as pancake. We used that. Yeah, it was dumb too, but it was just us. Then some idiot actually painted eighth and quarter mile markers across the road (and labled them) in bold white paint. The cops could not ignore that. After that, it was off to the track which would let anybody run anybody else through the week. Real races were only on weekends.
