I was wondering if anyone here has had the chance to run against one...I was pulling into a gas station when one was pulling out....that thing was fcucking LOUD, and hauled ass out of the gas station....the reason he did it was because i was pulling in....was very impressed.

Those things are no joke. My dad has one and I've driven it once or twice and holy hell that thing hauls like it's running from a horny gorilla.

i saw one last summer running consistent 15.0x's at the local 1/4 track here in memphis. i think "run like a horney gorilla" may be an overstatement...

High 13s/Low 14s at around 100mph seems to be fairly normal for the newer ones (LS2)...older ones (5.3L?) are low 15s at like mid to upper 80s traps....

Yeah my dad's got the 2006 6.0L LS2.

And yeah I did some research and it looks like the older one's were a 5.3L

From what I remember reading the newer ones are definitely a lot faster.

I raced one multiple times and beat him pretty bad.  My favorite of our 3 runs was when he was in front of me, I was obviously behind him being that he was in front of me  and he kept revving at me.  He was ticked about losing the first 2 races, so I think he wanted to make up for his losses.

light turned green and he took off, I was right on his a$$, jumped in the middle lane, and pulled probably about 2-3 cars before I shut down.  We got to the light and he complimented my ride, and said he couldn't believe how fast it was.  Made me feel good, considering I know there are many faster cars out there than mine.

Needless to say he said it was stock minus the catback he had.

okay that makes more sense. didn't the old ones have an ls1 though? seems like 50 more horses wouldn't drop the 1/4mile time a full second.

i do remember people complaining about them being turds when they first came out so it wouldn't suprise me if they did more then just drop a new motor in it.

The older ones had a 300 hp 5.3 and were weak. The newer ones got the 400 hp LS2 and ran decent for a truck, high 13s. They're heavier than they look.

5k lbs ?!?!  My durango with 3rd row seating (its pretty large is what im getting at) doesnt weight too much more than that, with the "ew"  (im assuming empty weight) at 5k.  Hard to imagine that truck weighing THAT much, even with the hardtop,motor/wheels.
