kaponelb -> C&L CAI (5/6/2008 11:13:20 AM)

I just purcharsed a C&L intake for my 06 mustang and im gonna buy the xcal 2 tuner for it but i was wondering where do i get the tune for the cai i went on the C&L site and no luck any help

Sancho805 -> RE: C&L CAI (5/6/2008 12:13:01 PM)

if you order the tuner through C&L, it should already be preloaded with a tune that is specific for the C&L CAI. i beleive its a tune that doug@bamachips created. call C&L to make sure though. another option would have been to buy everything together from bama directly but either way you should be pleased with the results.

kaponelb -> RE: C&L CAI (5/6/2008 3:13:51 PM)

yeah but i bought the tuner from a memeber and its blank so i was wondering how can i get it

Sancho805 -> RE: C&L CAI (5/6/2008 4:09:09 PM)

you'll need to order some custom tunes from a tuner shop of your choice. you'll have to let them know the CAI you have and whatever other mods. try going to the SCT site and see if they have a generic C&L tune for free download. it would probably be part of the firmware similar to the diablo.

kaponelb -> RE: C&L CAI (5/6/2008 7:40:38 PM)

i dont have any engine mods all i dont its dual echaust my car is automatic so how do you like c&l intake do you feel the difference

Sancho805 -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 10:05:11 AM)

compared to stock, awesome difference (with a good custom tune). the quick throttle response and stronger pull in the power band is the best. of course its all in the tune but a good cai will provide hi flow/minimal restriction which only compliments the tune.

kaponelb -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 12:47:20 PM)

so what tune do you recomended me to get and where to get it from and do you know how much it would cost to get

Sancho805 -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 2:23:40 PM)

vmp tunes are $50 each. bamachips also dropped their single tune price to $50 as well. check out their sites and decide from there. i read good things on brenspeed also. can't lose with any of them.

kaponelb -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 2:54:52 PM)

hey if you can help me out here im new to this is my first cai and tuner setup so im new with this stuff what would be the best tune for my setup what is the 93 91 stuff like that i want to add some extras horses to my stang and heard that this was the best bang for the buck

Sancho805 -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 3:31:30 PM)

higher octanes have more power potential. depending what is available in your area, (91 is the highest for me here in socal), get the perf tune that matches the highest at your local pumps. dont expect noticeable differences between 87 vs 89 and 91 vs 93 even if there is a diff. 87 vs 91/93 is where you'll feel the diff. if it were me, i would purchase either the 91/93 perf tune from VMP or the 91/93 race tune from bama. nothing against other tuners, its just that i have experience with bama, which i'm VERY happy with and i've READ LOTS of compliments on VMP tunes.

kaponelb -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 5:13:51 PM)

so it would be good to get it for my xcal 2 and get the race tune 91/93 from bama so does that mean i only use 91 on my car and not 87 cause the highest here is also 91 im in the so cal area also

landon.moss -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 5:29:30 PM)

yup...only use the octane your tune is set for...on hi-po motors it will cause pinging, and supposedly doing a 91 tune and running lower octane will cause pinging as well (not good)

kaponelb -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 5:43:20 PM)

so if i go with 91 i have to use 91 all the time so whats the best tune out there for me

landon.moss -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 5:49:21 PM)

that is correct....guess it depends what kind of/how much driving you do/how much you wanna spend on gas - i thought i read that some peeps with the economy tune didn't notice a huge difference from the race tune...i'm pry wrong on that one [:)]  t's pry the torque tune compared to race tune is minimal dif

kaponelb -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 7:09:54 PM)

i dont drive my car much so i dont think the 91 would be a big problem so what would be the best tune for me

kaponelb -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 8:24:40 PM)

sancho805 what tune do you have on ur mustang

kaponelb -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 9:45:46 PM)

whats the difference for
91 torque
91 race
91 perfomance

someone told me i should at least get a 87 performance whats that for but wich 91 tune should i go with whats the difference between all of them

The difference in all of these tunes is pretty much timing, fuel, transmission, and throttle settings.

Each tune (or tuner) designs tunes to perform specific tasks. A torque tune provides more low down torque, but probably less HP up top. A race tune is meant for the track, not daily driving. A performance tune is a good all around tune for daily driving.

The best answer for you, is to decide what you want out of your car, pick the tuner you want, call them, tell them what you're looking for, and have them suggest the best tune(s) to suit your needs.

Actually, the best answer (if you can afford it), is to find a good tuner and have your car custom dyno tuned for your specific needs.

kaponelb -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 10:34:47 PM)

i have a scal2 i tihink ima go with the 91 performance just need that extra power on the streets not track stuff for me and i dont need torque

kaponelb -> RE: C&L CAI (5/7/2008 10:38:47 PM)

so i would get better performance if i went with the 91 performance than the 87 performance
