First Run at the Track

ZeroStryfe -> First Run at the Track (5/6/2008 10:00:53 AM)

Went to the track for the first time sunday.  Texas Raceway in Kennedale.

        First Run           Second          Third
R/T        .485              .135             .328
60'        2.174             2.096           2.096
330       6.009             5.940           5.857
MPH      59.27             59.32           60.79
1/8       9.114             9.052           8.933
MPH      78.75             78.96           79.68

Don't know how well I would do at a 1/4 mile but from talking with others I can be happy with these numbers for now.

The 9.1 is about equal to a 14.2 in the 1/4! Thats not real bad for a first time out.

S8ER01Z -> RE: First Run at the Track (5/6/2008 10:43:05 AM)

Seems a little slow for the mods but I am guessing the DA was terrible. How was the weather??

72MachOne99GT -> RE: First Run at the Track (5/6/2008 10:53:13 AM)

Compare your 1/8th time to my full slip.

You can tell you're into the 13.8's easy, maybe a bit lower.

Not bad AT ALL for your first time out.

Weather wasn't too bad.  I think Mid 80's until about 8:30 or 9:00 then dropped into the high to mid 70's.  Not real humid out.

Don't mean to make fun of you , but lay off the sleeping pills on the line[:D]

USMCrebel -> RE: First Run at the Track (5/7/2008 6:42:22 AM)

if your going for RT then it's bad, but i've seen TONS of pro driver trying to get technique on the 60ft and great times all around tak 1sec or more to get comfortable with where they are then hit it.

Somehow I think he was giving the other guy a head start could be wrong but I just don't see you waiting that long at the line.

72MachOne99GT -> RE: First Run at the Track (5/7/2008 9:22:00 AM)

Oh, I was just sleeping. Sort of, because I was not really trying to get any kind of r/t at all.

Just wanted to make sure I was good and relaxed. [8D] Thanks though guys. No more pills of any kind for me at the track, good advice..lol

But yea, back to the topic, I wish I could have gone 13.8's my first time at the track.

That exact same car with the same driver *me* only went 14.5 one time my first time  at the strip.

ZeroStryfe -> RE: First Run at the Track (5/13/2008 10:06:06 AM)

At the risk of sounding like an idiot what does DA stand for.

Thats the one I was looking for thanks.  Still new to the strip side of things.

USMCrebel -> RE: First Run at the Track (5/13/2008 11:13:03 AM)

just post up and ask questions man, it's the only way to learn, and 99% of the guys here have years!!!! more experience than i do, so im still learning too.

Quick Shot xMLx -> RE: First Run at the Track (5/13/2008 11:46:28 AM)

Those times aren't that bad for your first time out there.  I take it you were on street tires?  Or drag radials and your skills are as bad as 72MachOne lol.

Get some drag radials on some cheap 15" rims and those times should drop to at least the 8.7x range if your shifting stays exactly the same.

USMCrebel -> RE: First Run at the Track (5/13/2008 11:49:32 AM)

i think im gonna hit the track sunday and try to get some 1.9x on my street tires and shoot for an 8.79.

ZeroStryfe -> RE: First Run at the Track (5/13/2008 12:35:37 PM)

Those were with an old pair of Drag Radials that a friend let me try out.  I should have 31 spline rear end by this weekend and can launch harder and try for a better time.  Still trying to finish up a driver mod to fix some of the problem.
