Show me your subs

SXGT -> Show me your subs (5/5/2008 9:28:58 PM)

I put my two 10s in yesterday , I have a fiberglass box inplace of the spare tire and was wondering if this is actually the BEST spot for them. Seems like you would want them aimmed parallel to the glass for the best hit. How do you have yours aimed?

Rockford Fosgate HE
Lightning Audio 350.1 single channel

it sounded amazing in my 240sx hatch back. Kinda sucks in the stang with a trunk.

Why do You think having them firing up would be the best?

SXGT -> RE: Show me your subs (5/5/2008 9:51:50 PM)

i think hitting the glass dead on would make for the best vibrations based on the set up I had in my hatchback. The sub was perfectly parrellel with the glass. Also i heard from many man people to aim it at the glass. BUT this fiberglass box gives me much needed room .

Typically in a trunk car it's best to fire them backwards.

Likewise, in a hatch most people fire them up and have the port firing backwards.

this box is sealed yo!

i prefer the sound of sealed over bandpass and ported.

Who doesn't prefer any sound over bandpass?

i have a big bandpass box im trying to get rid of. It makes the bass sound distorted.

A bandpass box amplifies output on a small frequency band.

Bandpasses can be good for certian applications but generally they have to be too large and sound really bad on music.

yeah this box is to big to put in my trunk

+ 1

Why are we running a 4 ga into a distribution block then to 8 ga?

And just about anything is loud in a hatch, a single 8" in a decent size box with 150 watts on it will seem loud in a hatch. You may just be in need of upgrading your amplifier and woofers.

If you want to see some...

joeybutts -> RE: Show me your subs (5/6/2008 9:27:30 AM)

why is there a d-block at all?

SXGT -> RE: Show me your subs (5/7/2008 10:28:41 PM)

i was not able to cram the 4ga into the amp. That amp is made sucky in some ways. I'm about to go get a pioneer amp or something.

SXGT -> RE: Show me your subs (5/7/2008 10:33:01 PM)

also . where are you guys using for a ground?

ttocs -> RE: Show me your subs (5/8/2008 7:00:48 AM)

any solid piece of metal will work as a ground.  Scrape the metal and make is as secure as possible.  When you are done give a good pull on it and it should not move at all...
