So my car has been parked for about a week while i put my stereo in speakers and head unit.   I just got every thing put back together and the thing wont go in  to 1-2-and R.  The clutch does not feel normal (not a lot of resistance)  the battery did get ran  down at one point in time, completely dead.  The car has 34000 and i dont ride the clutch.  Is there something i did wrong.  Something behind the head unit or in the center consul that got unplugged? (i know it might be a long shot)

I just find it odd that the car had no issue at all and then all of a sudden WAM

I am just thinkin out load but Yesterday i had it started charging up the battery maybe 30mins. could i have had it in gear just in enough not to move the car but shave the clutch down?

AHHHHH any one swap a clutch?   How much did it run yah?

thanks guys

sounds like a hydraulic issue if anything (clutch master or slave cylinder).

the master is easy, the slave is part of the release bearing (inside the trans bellhousing) so it requires pulling the transmission.

so this may be a warranty issue

as long as i get it in with in the next month.  i would have had her 3 years in  june.  FAZM i saw in another Trany related post you said you have had your trany out many times.   Are there an special tool needed?  Our fleet mechanic at work told me when the clutch needs replace not to come to him cuz it would be a pain to swap out.  but if it turns out it is the clutch maybe if i can explain that the job is not as big as he thinks it is he might tackle it.

nope really easy.

take out the driveshaft (12pt 12mm bolts)
disconnect the shifter
remove the h/y pipe
support the transmission
remove transmission to engine bolts.
remove transmission.

a long extension and a swivel  helps out a lot.

well that sound simple.  I think i will take it into ford to have them diagnose and go from there.

From what i understand the brakes and the clutch use the same hydraulic system.  Correct?

well i have heard back from ford FINALLY.

The clutch is toast.  It is wore down to the rivets.

Ford man wanted $700 For parts and another $450 for resurfacing and labor.   I  told him i was going to try and get a clutch and just have them throw it in.

I checked my local 4x4 shop here in town and he was trying to get me a centerforce duel friction for $500  but non of his suppliers had one. He  is going to call me tomorrow and let me know if he can get it from centerforce direct.

I have check most of the online sellers and they are all over a week out just to ship them.  are there any other good clutches out there?

The shop manual says not to resurface.
