"yeah it took me a year to find a mustang that i could afford and didnt need much work and a week to find mine XD, sad story almost had a 72 mach 1 351 4bbl 89,000 original miles for 7500.00 someone bought it 2 minutes before me"
Could probably all tell stories like that.
I was interested in older Trans Ams and Classic Mustangs. My two favorite cars so I left it up to fate as to which I would end up buying. There was a really sweet '78 TA for sale but at the time I was waiting for a financial windfall that I knew was coming. By the time I could get the money together the TA was gone.
I had looked at lots of cars and I was about to give up since a lot of the Mustangs I saw out there were asking $14k or more, then one evening I was about to shut down the computer when I decided to do one more search. I went to Craig's list and searched for Mustangs. The guy who sold me my car had posted the ad at 11:45 p.m. and I found it at midnight. I called first thing the next morning, went to see the car that afternoon and the rest is history.
ORIGINAL: SJs 66coupe But the really funny thing....I am pretty sure other folks don't notice imperfections in the car like I do. Have stopped the habit of telling people about the imperfections when someone tells me they like the Stang. Every time I look at the car I think about this or that which needs to be fixed or painted or whatever.
I love all the thumbs up, stares, compliements, what year is thats, and whats under the hood too, i just hope someone doesn't hit me =\
Exacly, today some one was like "nice car, what year is it" then "it looks great1" the whole time i was just thinking about how much was wrong with it.

I had an intersting one today. My brother had never ridden in my Mustang so today we went to get Smash Bros at best buy. On the way there we passed a guy who runs constantly on Hwy 98 in Pensacola. He's usually carrying a small American flag, this time he had two. When we were coming up on him he stops running on the side of the highway, waves the flags and holds one out as we drive under it. In the car behind us were two Navy guys that I could see laughing and waving in my rear view. My brother thought it was awesome how much attention the car gets. His favorite of course was the car full of girls.
In the Mustang I get some looks and people often yell out "nice car". Guys in later year Mustangs stare. Girls in later year Mustangs ignore me.
In the Firebird it's another world. People stare, guys flirt and yell out stuff, I get thumbs' up and waves and honks. I was on a 2-lane country road when some jackass drove up fast behind me, then came up next to me just to yell NICE FIREBIRD. Fortuntely there was nothing coming from the other direction.
I've heard a ton of stories about a first car, the elusive 1963 Mustang one man owned, how difficult it was to have sex in the backseat (I just smile and nod), etc.
Just today I had some moron in a very loud Fox body 'Stang rev and rev his engine next to me at a light. I ignored him as usual.
gas stations were the worst (or the best). lots of attention driving around when i was in high school. now the 67 is undergoing a complete resto. the car grabbed so uch attention it was almost scary. all the usual thumbs up, is it for sale, what year/engine....ect. but i rerember that the public was not the only ppl that reconized my loud exaust, bright paint, and shiny rims... cops do too!

One time when working on it in the driveway with my friend this father and son (like 5 year old kid)
Kid: "Daddy look at that cool car!" Dad: "yeah son, that's a mustang!"
haha it was funny. I get other looks as well. Once when driving around with a friend this newer impala on 22's full of guys are two lanes over just STARING at my car, then they rev it, so I speed up a little, throw it in neutral and rev it up as well, they just went bananas after that.
The stories are countless, but in my few weeks of driving her around I've gotten some thumbs up from numerous types of people. Gas stations are fun too but nothing too major yet, like full on convo's or anything. I used to get asked every day it seemed if it was for sale, we thought that once it was painted they would stop asking since it wasn't a "project" anymore, but nope I still get asked.
its really cool, but I sure wish a girl flashed me haha One day, maybe this summer those bikinis must get uncomfortable when sitting at a light next to a mach 1
also on another side note, I'm sure people think it's my dads car as well, but no it wasn't just handed down to me. Sure, it wasn't funded fully by me, I'll admit that of course, but I did all the hard work myself for 2 years to get her into this shape. To me and my father that learning experience is priceless.

The usual is someone complimenting the car (The signal flare red coupe is my daily driver).
The latest is at the gas pumps. I get glares. People with expensive to drive SUVs are the worst. I guess most people don't realize that my car is paid off, so I don't have to worry about a car payment and buying gas...just buying gas LOL.
I'm like a few of you though, I usually see the flaws in my car when complimented.
Well, on my way home from the paint shop (No chrome, mouldings, badging or even seats!)I was given the thumbs up twice and "awesome" was shouted at me from a guying mowing his lawn,All this and the paint shop was 3 miles from my house in a town of 4,000 people! I can't wait for cruise nights. My color is competition orange and a beautiful 1970 coupe I knew the color was gonna look great but this almost burns your retina's. I think I'm going to get double the reactions It's something I wanted, But it may be to much? I can see this now as being a problem . No more squeeling the tires and claiming it was not me if the poo poo pull me over. (hard to blend in with an orange car). Nice comment WAFFLES!

Well one time I was at a stoplight with my other 1970 Mustang (stock 302) about 10 years ago when a nice azzed BARRACUDA (426 HEMI)pulled up next to me. He yelled over and asked if I wanted to race, I said SURE! I looked in the rear view mirror and seen nobody behind me, put my tranny in reverse and when the light turned green I backed up about a block and turned into a parking lot. Never seen him again! just tire smoke from him.
