usually i dont pay attention to other drivers or people around me. funny story though...i was cruising around during hot august nights last year with 3 of my friends and we just finished going through and were driving to get back in line and one of my friends eye's get to about the size of silver dollars. i look over and there's this girl (probably in her early 20's, good looking too) flashing us...that was pretty awesome haha. sometimes if im lucky ill look over to the car next to me at a stop light and it'll be a good looking girl looking over, ive even gotten waves before haha. then i get old guys at the gas station stopping me and talking to me which is cool too...i love hearing the stories. all my neighbors have come up to me and told me they love it...which is good because i leave for school at 6:30 in the morning and i have glasspacks .
Just two days ago I passed a 66 red w/ white stripes vert while in my 66 coupe. We shared a wave as we passed, his engine sounded awesome. There are a handful of classic owners in my area and we've gotten into a habit of waving at each other.
The hot girls that want to get near the stang are awesome, I can not wait for the beach this summer. I'm saving like mad to get that dual exhaust in so I can shake the ground for the girls
I always get a kick out of people looking and waving. The best part though are the kids who's jaws drop when they see a classic roll by. I had one kid shout 'look daddy! a 1966 mustang!' and another who stopped his bmx on the side of the road to give me a nod and a thumbs up while I was sitting at an intersection.
I always get the nice car comments too. People always asking what's under the hood. A women at my wife's work wants a ride really bad. My wife said she would take her but the women said no, I want a ride from Mike . My wife said that will never happen!
We took the Stang out to the movies on Saturday night.
When the show was over we go back to the garage and get in the car and start backing out of our spot.
My Stang doesn't have A/C so in Houston the windows are always down. As I was backing out I heard a boy in the garage that was about maybe 12 years old say something like "Dad! Look at that cool old car!"
It does make you smile at times doesn't it?
But the really funny thing....I am pretty sure other folks don't notice imperfections in the car like I do. Have stopped the habit of telling people about the imperfections when someone tells me they like the Stang. Every time I look at the car I think about this or that which needs to be fixed or painted or whatever.
i like seeing people when they see my 69' coupe cause their faces just light up and they smile and wave and such, but i get so tired of all the little ricer kids revving at me when im sitting at stop lights, usually i just ignore them but somtimes i get aggravated and have to show them what real power is, its funny though one time this little civic all riced out you know the typical stuff carbon fiber hood, slammed to the ground with the massive exhaust tip, and filled with groupies, starts revving hollerin out his window for a race (i had already turned down 3 others in the last half hour) so i ablige him i let him get a car on me and i just roast the tires sideways and blow by him like he was nothing, i saw him again a few minutes later he and his buddies wouldnt even look at me they just quietly drove by,they had even turned the radio down to a respectable level
my favorite thing though is when i see the look on the faces of the older hot rod guys when i get out of the car (i'll be 18 in july) its like they cant believe someone my age has such a nice car, and for everyone out there my daddy didnt buy it for me, i work three jobs and pay for everything i want and need, i get that somtimes too people just assume im a spoiled rich kid and that irritates me to no end

Yeah, it's hard to believe now days that kids are able to afford such nice cars like these, but hard work REALLY pays off.
I always get is that a "289 under the hood", and it feels good to say nope it is a 351.
+1! "Its got a 408 in it right now"
Then you have to explain what that is and how and how a stroker works.
Every time I get out or fuel it up or walk up to or anything, someone asks what year or what motor, sometimes just if its for sale. It seems like every old guy out there has had something from the 60's and is just dying to tell ya about it.

Hahaha, I get all those comments too... "is it for sale?" "what year?" "Beautiful car" etc etc. I'm 21, but look like I'm 28 or so, so /i've never really been bothered with the dirty looks like a punk kid with daddies car. I have bought and sold 8 classic mustangs since i was 12, all on my own, so /i know it'd really bother me to see those faces or hear those comments.
It's really fun to get the guys coming over to ask what motor is in it.... when you're standing there pumping 110 octane race fuel (6.45/gal) at the local shell... and they continue to stand there til you're done... so they can hear you fire it up.
I love the girls checkin it out too. So does my fiancee. She doesnt even get jealous any more, she says it just makes her feel sexier about being with the guy WITH that car. :)
Alot of fun too is when you get a good lookin girl in a newer mustang, typically one daddy bought, that ACTUALLY recognizes the old ones. That really is a nice treat. Dad taught her well.

So... my "I" key doesn''''t always work on my keyboard... just in case I miss one in my posts.
When I was driving my 69 before I tore it down for restore, I couldnt go in a store and come out without atleast 1 note on the windshield asking if I wanted to sell. Funny thing is when people try to give you technical advice, no offense but if you walk up to me and look like you just got done at an audience taping of pinks (ie. earnhardt tattoo, no shirt, jean shorts, and your women is wearing a cutoff) as many people in this area look like (but thats Tater Valley, TN for ya) im pretty sure that the fact I have a bsme you wont change my mind about anything.
I sometimes get the nice car, or that's a good year, and definately the I remember whens. Occasionally those that hear it tell me "Wow, that sounds good" yadda yadda. It looks like a real beater though, so people that get the courage up to race me usually end up trying to catch up, and failing. It seems like everyone loves the classics, and even a faded paint stock looking I6 gets respect.

I was riding my Harley down the highway two years back. This woman probably in her 30's pulls up beside me and waves. I look over and nod. I look back 2 seconds later cuz she was cruising beside me, and she had her shirt all down and smiling at me. I just smiled, gave her the rocker sign, and she drove off. I rode up to my buddies and told them. Haha they chased her down to get a look, but she wouldnt do it. It was awesome!!!
On a Mustang note...the only responses I get are "Man, you still havent finished that piece of junk." or "Thats your lifelong project that will never be complete." One of these days, I will be able to shove it in their faces...one of these days.

usually i get smiles from ladies, guys give me thumbs up and mostly at the gas station people are like 'man that must get some bad gas mileage' that's about it.. or "what's in that thing?" surprised when they hear it's only a 289
Have to admit that I haven't gotten that one yet. But if the price was right....say way more than I have invested in the car I would be happy to go find another Stang or something like a '68 Camaro
i once had someone on a bicycle keeping staring at the car as he passed. so he fell over. Felt awfully sorry for that fella. Stopped the car, got out to see if he's okay, but he sped of quite embarassed. When I'm stopped I usually get: Is it quick? most people over here just don't know what to make out of it. I never had a boyracer challenging me once they hear the engine (even when they'd beat me easy hands down).

It's always interesting. You never know what kind of people you're going to run into, but it's usually an inpromptu "car show" whenever the car is stopped. Driving my car around is bad enough, but when I take my sons car out, it's almost a PITA. My house is set off of the road and we have a somewhat long driveway. One time, three cars followed me home... all of the way down the driveway.... all of the way over to my detached shop building. I don't mind the "thumbs up" or "nice car buddy", but pulling down my driveway is taking it a little too far. Heck, it could be some crackhead looking to jack the car....
i got tons of looks and compliments in my 85 stang vert with a custom flipflop paint job, xenon 4 pc body kit, and pony wheels. it was a 3.8 v6 but it looked good. as for the 67, havet driven it on the road yet, but trailering it home from my shop, i got TONS of thumbs up and compliments...especially from older people. the younger kids hardly looked...well i mean they looked, but when they saw old 14 and 15 inch alum mag wheels, big headers and exhaust hangin out of the bottom, and didnt see big rims, trashcan muffler, obnoxious body kit and 500 lights and stickers they just passed by lmao NO RESPECT..i kinda wish i coulda backed it off the trailer and lined up on em. but honestly i cant wait till i can drive my 67 on the road. its gota feel amazing to get the compliments that im certian all of you get with your stangs!!

Best response I got was 3 cops at a license check about 1 mile from work. Around 12:30 in the morning (I work 2nd shift), I pull up & all 3 start checking out the car. One says, Damn I was hoping you'd run so we could have a little chase!. Another asked if wanted to swap cars with his Charger for a while. Other than that, mostly thumbs up from guys, and an occasional "Is it for sale".

I know it's tempting to want to shove it in their faces. I am in the same boat, but I know I will have to say nothing when I'm driving around in my finished stang and they all finally see how awesome it turned out. Sometimes it's best to say nothing and let the car speak for you.
Dave--you have some really sweet cars. You could build those for a living if you don't already. Especially now that that other company, uhmmm who were they? (up) is no longer. I really like your cars man, nice job on them all.

I'd follow you donw the road as well :-] but at least I'd be driving a stang as well so you'd know wht it is about ;-)

yeah it took me a year to find a mustang that i could afford and didnt need much work and a week to find mine XD, sad story almost had a 72 mach 1 351 4bbl 89,000 original miles for 7500.00 someone bought it 2 minutes before me but a week later i found my baby and got her for 7700.00 119,000 miles on the body and 5000 on rebuilt engine and trans that mach was nice though
