Scenario:
You're 19yrs old, you have $7k in the bank, your mustang has been dyno tuned at310rwhp and runs high 12's and has a loud exhaustandturns heads, you don't street race and only hit the tracka couple times a yr,your rich grandparents gave you a college fund for tuition/gas/car-insurance till you get your bachelors degree, your starting salary will be$40k/yr when you get out of college and get a job at 23yrs old, when you getout of college you want to get ahouse as soon as you can because the longer yourent an apartment is money down the drain if you can afford a house.
At 19yrs old, do you:
A: Spend a couple thousand dollars or less on mods for your car to bump your car into the mid to low 12's.
B: Save a little more and when you can afford a supercharger and a rebuild for your car get it.
C:Save mostof the money, but get yourself a couple Xbox360 games andnew HDTV
D: Save your money and only use it when you need it, whoknows if you'll haveanemergency/big-problem one day or you can start saving for a house.
D is also b/c your car is fast enough for your age/already and your not a complete speed junkie.

What is said job?

I would keep most of the cash in the bank just in case you see something shiney that ketches your eye. Or invest a little bit.

I don't really see how buying a house in the US right now is any better than renting[8D]

Mind you I guess you can get killer deals right now:D

Open up a Roth IRA and fund it as much as possible. Pay yourself first.

Save your money.

ps I think it's interesting how you can project what the demand and salary for whatever you're in school for will be in four years.[&:]

pps Mustangfanatic4...is that ur pic or your GF? if it's you, you're cute;)

Isn't she like 30 years too young for you?

OP: May as well save that cash money. You sound happy with your car, just spend a few bucks here and there as you need it. If your job predictions crash and you end up having to sell your body for drug money, you'll be glad to have a little extra in the bank. (You know, in case you hit a dry streak and still need the drugs)

C or D
I'd say 310rwhp is plenty (It would be for me). Life is expensive anyway. You don't want to be broke coming out of school.

C or D.

Either way, save the majority of it, but use some of it for some fun. Life is short.

I agree, or set yourself up with a nice mutual fund.

I was in the same situation, and wastedall my money on amodified 351w. Only guy with a 1965 mustang 351w on the block beating new gts all day long. Haven't regretted it once. So I would say get a supercharger, but thats just me.

First off, congratulations on having A) generous grandparents and B) a plan and a head on your shoulders. Sounds like you already have a sweet car, save your money and once you get financially stable after college you can have more toys.

i would 100% say invest it earn intrest that way in 4 years when you get out of school or hell later down the road when you have a family or for when you retire you can have something to show for the work if i could i would right now but im more or less dragging by the way i see it in the future unless something crazy happens it will be harder to make a comfortable liveing no matter what you do a lil extra down the road will be nice to have an i shall continue on with this semi meaningful run on sentance to reiterate the saving and investing it will pay off in the end nice things are nice now but the needed things will be nicer in the end but thats just me
