1500rpm bucking and starting up issues

FivePointOhh -> 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/5/2008 8:52:36 AM)

ok im having issues with the car bucking at 1500 rpms, the ONLY thing i have changed was the PCV hook up to be more like the stock hook up. it did NOT buck previous to my change but i would like to know which is correct way of hooking it up.

i was also searching on MF and seen that a lot of B-303 cam'd people are having bucking issues at 1500 rpms(as far as just cruising, bucks harder in 1st and 2nd, and gets less severe in 3rd and 4th) and it was being blamed on the cam, im thinkin is the PCV hook up or vaccume or something. here is an illustration of what I had previously and then what I changed it to now.
Previous to my issue:

how it is now with issues:

My other issue has pretty much always been there and hasn't been completely resolved or has it changed with the above issue.

first start up of the day the car will sputter, not hold an idle and will backfire if you try to drive it like that. but when the car is warmed up like more than 100* the car will hold its idle, no more backfiring and she gets all her balls back.

the car has new injectors, new EGR valve, new IAC
No codes either

any ideas?

The second pic, the way you have it now, the second red line for the PCV, do you have it running to the vacuum line for the brake booster, and is the line running to the CAI T'ed off of that line?

the orange is heater control's hooked up to the back of the intake

dark blue is vac line to B/B

Does the 89 still have a charcoal canister? I will take a look at mine tonight but I still have the stock intake, what intake is this?

FivePointOhh -> RE: 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/6/2008 9:12:45 AM)

here is a revised picture to represent the routing of the system. I used the same colors so its easier to read. Gold represents any fittings I used. "bottom of the plenum" is what i meant to say BTW.

and this is what it looked like before i had any bucking issues.

which one is correct? does it matter either way?

FivePointOhh -> RE: 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/6/2008 9:25:29 AM)

it is the typhoon intake from BOI.

here is a better pic of just the manifold.

bump for more help. hopefully those pictures clarified things a little bit

projectresto83 -> RE: 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/6/2008 5:26:52 PM)

Are you sure you don't have a leak somewhere now with maybe a cracked line? Have you tried to put in the way it was to see if it fixes the problem??

FivePointOhh -> RE: 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/7/2008 6:26:05 AM)

all the lines are new.

as far as putting it back the way it was, im going to do that but i havent had time to go out and put it back. my question was more geared towards...which one is correct?

brentloftis -> RE: 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/7/2008 8:50:30 AM)

Sorry, fell off a ladder yesterday and busted up my shoulder, if I recall from my setup the first example is the correct, the second with the PVC going back into the rear of the upper is not on mine, but again I have a stock setup.

FivePointOhh -> RE: 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/7/2008 8:59:01 AM)

sorry to hear about your accident, hopefully you're ok

well, what in the heck is that other port for on the back of the intake?

sYckmYnded -> RE: 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/7/2008 9:36:11 AM)

just throw a stall converter in it if its a automatic easy fix!

if its 5-speed you sound like u have vaccum leak.. just get a standard manuel from any parts store and route the vaccum lines the way there suposed to be, i had this same issue and it turned out to be vaccum lines in wrong places with wrong psi of vaccum

wish i coulda help you more

FivePointOhh -> RE: 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/7/2008 9:45:44 AM)

still lookin for help on the first start up issue. it happened before i ever switch the vac lines and it still does it.

will not hold its idle until about 100* temp. otherwsie i have to hold the gas down or it dies

FivePointOhh -> RE: 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/9/2008 6:53:50 AM)

update.... i put the vac tubes back to the way i had them and its wayyyyyyyyyyyy better. it at least runs by itself without dying but the idle is so crazy and sometimes i have to save it.

it drops down to 300rpm and then pops back up to 1200 then 500,1000,300, 1000,500,1200....

and so on. but again when she gets warm the issues stop completely.  what the heck?

nseoi -> RE: 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/9/2008 8:45:01 AM)

damn idle. i swear, i keep replacing things here and there, im only going to take it serious once i have the cash to redo my whole intake /fuel rails and injectors.

FivePointOhh -> RE: 1500rpm bucking and starting up issues (5/9/2008 1:09:21 PM)

bump.

i just drove it to work and now just sputters when shes warm now, volts drop a bit and rpms go down to 600rpms and just jumps between 600 and 1k at stop lights.

whats going on here?
