so i am 20 years and old and made like 15k last year. why is my tax rebate check going to be $300?

it depends on which tax bracket you fall into, how many you claim, if you have dependents and some other factors(at least thats how it was explained to me). I only get 300 as well. im 21 and paid in about 3k in taxes last year. sucks huh?

thats my rebate check. i already received my refund. this is weird =\. i think i paid like 3-4k in taxes..

i thought it didnt matter as long as you made a certain amount you either got 600 or you got nothing. i made close to 20k im hoping i get 600 i really need it

I know I am in a stupid situation because of that plan. My parents claim me as a dependent because it works out better for them in some situations, but because I am over the age of 17 they can't claim me as an additional $300. And because I am being claimed as a dependent, even though my parents aren't getting any stimulus check for me, I am not eligible for the plan. Still managed to find a way to screw me

i believe your living situation/last years tax's matter....I made 56K last year, and I am getting $600...My girl made 29K last year and she is getting $600....We also file single, and not dependants for any one....think that has a lot to do with it.

well my coworkers information isnt even on the irs website so im hoping its a glitch and im getting the full $600 back.

I made too much money to get anything back.

It's a screwed up system. I made more money, which means I paid more taxes. people that barely made any money and barely paid any taxes get something back.

if i made enough it wasnt by much... i dont think i made more than 5 grand this year. i dont work during the school year, and having the luxury to take off when i need to when im home for breaks, i elected to take a job with a guy i know (in my educational field) and work for not much money.

wait, so if we are still listed as dependents on our parents form, does that mean we dont get anything back for the stimulus checks??? I'm going to be really pissed if that is the case!

if you filed your own taxes, that MIGHT be a loophole in the system...

because i know i filed my own taxes, but my dad also listed me as a dependent child under his name, since technically i dont graduate for another 2 weeks, so i can still be considered dependent.

so there might be the case where your parents get $300 for you, and you get $300 for yourself, for filing your taxes.

There is a breakoff between the $300/600 amounts, I just don't remember where it was. I wanna say it was around $20K or so?
