if you filed your own taxes, that MIGHT be a loophole in the system...
because i know i filed my own taxes, but my dad also listed me as a dependent child under his name, since technically i dont graduate for another 2 weeks, so i can still be considered dependent.
so there might be the case where your parents get $300 for you, and you get $300 for yourself, for filing your taxes.
dang, I'm a student, but I work all year as well and filed mine with my parents.... I bet that means I dont get anything then.

ORIGINAL: speedstang06 wait, so if we are still listed as dependents on our parents form, does that mean we dont get anything back for the stimulus checks??? I'm going to be really pissed if that is the case!
That's how I read it. Off of irs.gov
Q: I know some people won’t get a stimulus payment. How do I know if I’m one of them? A: You won’t get a stimulus payment in 2008, if any of the following apply to you:
You don’t file a 2007 tax return.
Your net income tax liability is zero and your qualifying income is less than $3,000. To determine your qualifying income, add together your wages, net self-employment income, nontaxable combat pay, Social Security benefits, certain Railroad Retirement benefits and certain veterans’ payments.
You can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return (whether or not you actually are claimed as a dependent on someone else's return). For example, this would include a child or student who can be claimed on a parent’s return. [Updated 4/15/08]
You do not have a valid Social Security Number.
You are a nonresident alien.
You file Form 1040NR or Form 1040NR-EZ, Form 1040PR or Form 1040SS for 2007.

from wha i understood, if after you paid your taxes and got your refund, if they still held over 600, you get 600, otherwise you get however much they kept...an old couple in town thought ehy were getting 1200, but ended up only getting 800 something cuz they didn't pay very much taxes...i think i'm getting 600.....i hope lol, but then again, the gov't might as well just give every one coupons for a free mcdonalds' sandwich everyday for a year and call it even...if you think of it like that, it's kind of a slap in the face...then you have tax money parasites that get a check when they don't/barely work...that's cool

alright y'all...i did my research and i do get 600..it's basically just how i explained it above...here's the stimulus check estimator...have your tax return handy to do it - mine's a pdf so it was pretty easy to do...
read the fair tax book you will find we are all being sreeeeeeeeeeeewd
Yeah that. It would be nice to get my whole paycheck back every week and not worry about a refund check or a "stimulus check". Just get a prebate check every month. Read the book.
Tax rebates, stimulus checks, what the hell. I'm from Canada, each year i pay close to a grand in taxes and im not exactly raking it in. Top that off with 13% sales tax, 5 dollar a gallon gas, stupid dollar coins instead of bills and widow maker winters, what am i doing living here. We only end up spending our tax money on hospitals and stupid stuff, i've seen universal solider years ago, at least your money's going towards cool stuff like re-animating vietnam vets to be super-soliders.
