I had the same noise on my white coupe and was told that it was the solid axle and the suspension. I rarely heard it, and it had to be a serious bump for me to notice it. Never had the dealer check it, but was always on my mind. Again, someone told me it was the solid rear axle making the thud. I know there has been a couple of posts on this, but never followed up to see what others had found out. I'd be interested just the same. Hopefully some one will post a reply!

Might be a TSB for the rear, but they might have already fixed that. It was an issue on my 2005.

I had a similar problem when I first purchased my car....took it into dealership, and they said it was the front strut mounts...not sure if that helps, but thats the problem i encountered!

Perhaps the muffler? On my car, there is play in the muffler hangers and over big bumps, they hit the body making a thumping noise. A simple check is pushing the muffler upward with some force to see if it moves/possibly makes the noise.

I have an 08 GT with 4k and has always made this sound when going over big bumps. I have read about it being mufflers, but I ruled that out on mine. It is kind of funny it only seems to come from one side. I'll check the tire wrench next.

I found mine to be the spare tire FWIW. If it is under warranty and unmodded yet, take it in

In this case it really doesn't matter if it's modded or not b/c of the nature of the problem. I take my car in for warranty claims with my mods on. The mods really arent the cause of noises or suspension. Now if I blew my engine[8D] you can bet those mods would be off in a second.

Either way I don't think tn_gt has mods yet.
