Is this your first motorcycle?  If so, stay away from the big 4cyl bikes.  I had a Ninja 500 and it's a great first bike;  it won't wheelie or tank slap no matter how much you get on it, and the riding position is more like a Z1000 than the anal-rape position of a supersport bike.

Or maybe you'd like a starter cruiser like the small Honda or Kawasaki bikes?  I think I've reached the age where I'd rather be sitting upright on a bike than leaning forward.

I pretend like I''m on my bike and go really fast, swerving in and out of traffic. Nobody gets it though.

+1 or even an 883 harley sportster(883 cc's) base price is a tick over 5k and gets about 60mpg, plus its American and has a 2yr unlimited mileage warranty

take MSF first and see how you like riding

i took MSF on ninja 250s and felt as though the bike was already getting boring.

don't be scared of a 600, if you respect the bike you will be fine.

my first bike was my GSXR600, i respect the bike and look at that, im not dead

I would go with the Ninja.

The 2008 Ninja 250R is a good starter bike and it's cheaper then both:

My wife told me today that I could get a Motorcycle if I sold my mustang - :)

Anyone want to buy an 87 Mustang?

Hmmm.....

well that ugly Suzuki he's got picked out is anything but cute or badass......

I'm in love with the Italian Ducati......that bike is pure sex.

749 for her.....999 for him.....

And the growl of that V-twin........oh yeah.  Does it for me every time.   Go to any Superbike race....you can tell when they roll around the corner everytime.....sound sooooo damn good!!!

I'm the only one in my group that loves them....everyone else is all about the 'zukis and yammerhammers.......
