Recently had to switch back to my stock shifter from the Tri-Ax. Only thing I couldn't find was the original retaining clip which was used on the rear driver side to attach the shifter to the chassis. The shifter seems a little looser than I remember, but this is most likely due to the switch from the short throw. Is this going to create a problem?

I should add that my main concern is that the retaining clip changed the height of the shifter enough to make it stiffer, which seems unlikely, but I was just wondering what other thought.

When I recently took off the Hurst and went back to stock I didnt put my stock retaining clip back on. I notice the shifter rattles but I don't think it's b/c of the clip. Plus I did try putting it on and the damned thing did not want to go back on, which is why I said screw it

why did you two remove your aftermarket short throw shifters? poor quality? upgrading to a different product?

Well thanks to the garbage quality of the Hurst I was forced to take it out. The Spherical Bearing I think it's called-the pivot point of the shifter where the shift rod connects had play in it. It moved up and down. After install there was a terrible vibration and rattling. From the forums I thought it was the shifter handle and tried a bunch of remedies but it wasnt the handle. The Shifter would violently shake side to side in gear under acceleration. I talked to Hurst and right now it's at their warehouse and I'm waiting for a new one. Not sure if I going to put it in, sell it, upgrade or what. Looks great and has a great feel but I'm not gonna put up with that crap again.
