OK i've checked online with four sites and they all say a different thing when it come to amount of oil for my 302. I even called auto zone and there not even close. My range that i've came across is 4 all the way to 8 quarts to change the oil. So I ask what is the correct amount of oil needed when changing the oil

Only way it can be higher than 5 is if there is a big oil cooler and remote oilfilter that is way bigger than the stock on for a 302.

After you shut off a warm engine pull the stick and it should read full.

So what. It may even read high when it's cold due to oil draining back to the oil pan. Either way, warm is the correct way to check it.

The only thing I can think of to check cold is tires.
