i just got my blower installed and my buddy has a 2005 C6 vette, vert, automatic with 3.50 gearing. We are going to hopefully have a little fun next weekend from a dig and roll.

I think it will be a good race any thoughts?

2005 C6= LS2

if you're pushing 390/370 to the wheels I think you have him as long as you get a good launch on those 4.10's

LS3 didnt go in to the C6s till the '08 model year

so its an LS2 - good luck you should be able to take him

You should get him... around same weight... and you're running his bhp to your rw... with better gearing.. should be good to go.

Don't run him over 120 and you've got this.

A convertable GT with the added weight of a blower is the same weight as a C6?...Don't think so xxkaz...I do agree he will edge him out since the A4 equipped C6's are the slowest......

OP- I have never heard of Corvette owners getting gear swaps as their first mods....Is that a typo? A 3.50 gear ratio is not remotely close to what stock auto's come with......It will be closer than you think if he does have 3.50's which by the way is a gear ratio I'm not even familiar with...

well, he did get the ls's wrong, maybe he got gear #'s mixed up???

Either way, I dont have enough knowledge to state an opinion, but I can say congrats on the new 'charger and good luck.

no vette comes/ came with 3.50's but either way you'll edge him out, until aero kicks you in the balls, but it'll be over before then

You'll have to eat him from a dig because I don't see you pulling him if you guys are even..

Should be a good race..

Like some guys already said, don't even try to race above 100mph

390 to the wheels ought to be enough to get the job done. But I bet it will be pretty close. Those Ls2s put about 340 to the wheels and the vet is a few hundred pounds lighter. I never heard of a 3.5 gear ratio but if he's got gears it could be very interesting from a dig. good luck.

Sure, andit's only worth mentioningbecauseeven with the extra whp, they are still lighter. Just trying to give him somekind ofbarometer.Oh, and it keeps some Vette owners awake at night knowing there are someMustangs out there just sticking it to them.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]Hopefully their sense of humor can remain intact.

Me and a few friends went to the track a few years back, and watched a couple of bolwn/built Foxes go at it. The slowest pass of in that competion was 11.04 or so..

We all lost sleep that night thinking about how fast they were..

It still gives me nightmares to this day

Does anyone have sleeping pills?

I would hope so...140rwhp advantage kinda helps huh?

You would be a better match for a stock Z

These comparo's are a great measuring stick to a stock C6 thats going to give the OP a good idea of his chances......450whp GT and a 480whp Cobra..

It's more like overkill to me......But the saying goes, The modded Mustang will hit the 1/4 quicker, but the stock C6 will drop the panties quicker...[:-]

I'd like to know what the car ran with 480rwhp....I've raced a few 460-480rwhp Cobras when I was only 390rwhp and beat the **** out of them....I mean....not even close.

Thats a good one - I don't know my pants come off pretty quick... If anything we will just run from a dig and maybe a roll. But if from a roll it would be like 30 mph so I am just about in my boost. Either way we won't go crazy maybe to 80-90 mph on an open stretch of road....

My old 400 rwhp s/c'd Vert GT ran a 12.5 with a slipping clutch and it being short shifted (the guy I sold it to ran it). I had a bunch of suspension mods and 4.10's to go with the blower. I'm sure it would have handled a stock LS2 C6 until it ran out of gear in 4th. Blow it away? No. But it should have taken one in a sprint to 100 mph. After that, it would have been toast for the GT.

My brother had an LS2 C6 when I had my Mustang, but we never ran them. I think he was scarred to lose to a crappy old Mustang. :D

Mid to low 7's in the 1/8th.....cam only and a manual. On Nitto's.

I've got a video somewhere of me racing a 486rwhp Cobra when I was bolton only/auto/100 dry shot. It was pretty close, I ran a 7.5x or so to his 7.8'ish.

xxkazp3rxx

well... My best was a 12.12 @ 118 or so (don't have the slip anymore)with a 1.89 60" before my port in 95 degree heat with high humidity (Florida is great for altitude but sucks for everything else in the summer), and while I needed a shifter quadrant... I could barely shift the thing... You can hear in some of my vids I lost an easy .5 on shifting alone it was HORRIBLE.

I went up against 3 C6 Z's... I beat 2 and lost to one on the street all 2nd and gear gear pulls... my 2nd win came after I ported my blower... but the wins and losses were all within a car..

ANd my post was to the guy that said this below.. I actually thought it was having problems beating them..

Umm....No vette comes with 3.50's. Ever. I'm pretty sure there isn't even a 3.50 ratio available. Either 3.23's (most likely) or 3.42's.

Oh, and since ppl in here are throwing dyno #'s around that a certain advantage in horsepower will carry the day...See what happens to these two Terminators (640rwhp and a 680rwhp) get handled by a 450rwhp C6..........These two are the epitamy of the term "dyno queen"...lol

i could not see the ETs so its hard to know for sure which car is faster.... but obvioulslly the Silver Cobra needs a driver mod. The Vette left him hard in those runs.

The blue Cobra did a bit better. but IMO running 11.6 in that car seems slow. I was at the track with a 2.2 Cobra ran 9.98 & 9.94 @ 141. I dont know the HP on the car but its in the 600 area.

Cobras are a lot like Supras... high dyno numbers, but most of the owners just want that. They don't put the practice time in, nor money into the suspension. And don't have the ability to get the power to the floor... so really, it doesn't surprise me.

+1, well said...There is no doubt that those Cobra's would have torn that Vette a new one had these races been from a roll...600+ whp is alot of power to tame on alaunch out of the hole....Even gifted drivers would have issues...
