yup i smoked him.  I thought it was going to be alot closer, he had a manual just with exhaust but i got him by quite a few cars, probably atleast 4.  I think something was either wrong with his car or he couldn't drive because I just raced a 96-98 GT 5spd.  with very little bolt ons and I had him by the same distance.  He didn't get off the line to good, I didn't hear tires sqeaul or anything, I thought for sure he'd have me off the line for a few seconds cause he had a manual but I just pulled on him the whole way up to 80-90 somewhere in there (wasn't looking at speedo)

It's just overshadowed by the LS1. The same thing will happen with whatever engine is put in the new Camaro.

I agree the lt1 is still a pretty good engine.
But, the ls1 is a beast, I doubt it will really get overshadowed/left behind by the new camaro. There are ls2's and ls3's out already and ls1's are still the motor most people doing any type of swap use. i don't know though jmo.

Yea the LT1's are still good engines with enough bite to take on most.  Good kill to the OP though.  A win is a win!!

LT1's are great engines, but they are overshadowed by the LS1.  I dont think that any engine is going to be doing the same to the LS1 anytime soon.  It will always be remembered fondly, like the 5.0 still is now

didn't you read his sig?  if he has full bolt ons and 4.10's so he probably could run those numbers at least, i know a full bolt on  auto with 4.10's would easily take my car

Honestly....stfu.

The LT1, even stock, should have you out torqued by 30rwtq and match your hp level.  Sounds like you beat the driver.  Nothing wrong with that.

An auto with a gear under it and some decent power is nothing to laugh at...especially from a stop.

Nice kill.

even if he out torqued me he deffinetly isn't on the same HP level, how would a stock LT1 with 275hp matched my 261rwhp, he'd only have at most 250 to the wheels, i know for a fact that LT1 wouldn't beat me because I raced one awhile ago but it was a lot closer, within a car or somewhere around there.

They were underrated....my buddy that used to post here, silverz28 or w/e his name was, made 258rwhp stock....

Kinda like my '98 TA made 325rwhp with a simple cutout....through an automatic, yet it was rated at 305hp at the crank.

eh I don't think all LT's were underratted atleast, how would you explain the two some other poster said about with the horribly low HP/TQ, and even further then just explain how I beat two of them, one I admit was badly driven but the other I knew couldn't have been because he too had an auto with full exhaust.  I'm not trying to argue just because you said I shouldn't have won, just my experiences/what I've heard have shown me differently.  I even drove in a different LT1 of a friends and wasn't really impressed with it at all over what I thought it'd be like.

just touching up on where I left off

I think the LT1 is a great engine, my drag buddy is now pulling 13.3@101MPH is his A4 LT1 formula

mods are CAI, catback, 9" rear, 2400stall, DR's, tranny cooler, deeper oilpan, 3.73's

IMO not a bad time for a car with just a set of flowmasters and a K&N CAI (all he has to tell other people really)

I personally just think the picture is funny
