I could care less what the day stands for, it just gives me another reason to drink margaritas all day long.

It's simply become a marketing tool aimed at selling more Mexican food and drink, nothing different than candy companies cashing in on Halloween and easter.

I drink almost every day, but I only drink top shelf margaritas on special occations (or weird mexi holidays)

Edit: And it's also finals week so the mexicans give me an excuse to take a break from studying.

I can't remember what year it was, but it's the anniversary of the battle where the Mexicans and americans overthrew the spanish emperor Maximillian in the Spanish-American war and Mexico became independant. Kind of like a Mexican 4th of July. I want to say sometime in the 1840's.. And it may BE important, but this is still America.. We honor Mexican heritage by celebrating a MEXICAN holiday, try honoring AMERICAN heritage by not waving your friggin flags in our streets all the damn time.. If everybody would just STFU and stop bitching nobody would have any problems.. Some of the best friends I've ever had are hispanic and they feel the same way I do about it..

For your information genius I happen to be an Irish american white guy.. ha.. mexi-fag.. Maybe you should take the advice you gave yourself in your other post and shoot yourself so we don't have to listen to your dumb ass anymore. You obviously don't feel like READING before you run your mouth. I never said I WAS mexican.. The guys up there didn't know what/where cinco de mayo came from, so I told em. Not my fault you were the dumbass that fell asleep in history class all the time..

I'm just an innocent bystander here, but I gotta ask:  whose streets are "our streets" if you're not latino?  Do you reside in Mexico?  Just curious.

Um the spanish-american war began in 1898.  During that war, the US took Cuba, Pueto Rico, and the Phillipines from Spain.  You have the wrong war bucko
