i would really like to hear what they say.. i dont know what you could do, but i am also a metal head and would love to set up a system like that.

rob3980 -> RE: Need your help with a metal system please! (5/4/2008 9:45:04 AM)

Well since you dont need a lot of bass id say get a good set of component speakers for your fronts along with a good 4 channel amp then maybe do subs 2- 10" and a class D amp later or you could do it all at once heres a setup for ya
1.)Alpine ida-x300
2.)Diamond Audio D3 500.4 4 channel amp $245.00
3.)Diamond Audio S500a $189.00 (awesome set of front speakers)
4.)Alpine Sps-600c (for your rear speakers)
5.)Diamond Audio D3 600.1 sub amp $245.00
6.)Diamond Audio D312D4.2 Subwoofers $258.00 (get 2 and make sure they are Dual 4 ohm subs so you can get them to a 1 ohm load )

TOTAL=$937

So you may have to get your subs later if all you have is $700 right now but trust me you would be more then happy with this set up. Diamond Audio has excellent sounding speakers I have them in both of my vehicles and I listen to every kind of music but they really do sound the best with music like Godsmack , Korn , Zombie ect....

But dont forget if your gonna have someone install this for you, you will still need to pay for a wire kit, install time and materials, and a box. And get a ported box that is what Diamond subs sound the best in.

ttocs -> RE: Need your help with a metal system please! (5/4/2008 11:08:23 AM)

Nobody loves diamond more then me but it might be a little over the top on a limited budget especially.

is the mach system lacking?  Check out page 2 of my cardomain page as it shows how to integrate into the mach system.  With a new deck and a little bit of tweeking you can make it sound clean and clear for everything except really low bass that you would find in rap, techno and the rest of the stuff you don't listen to.  The only thing you might want to consider adding is a sub for the low stuff the factory system can't handle, but even a single 10 and a small amp to power it will do and leave most of your trunk alone.

PReal -> RE: Need your help with a metal system please! (5/4/2008 11:16:30 AM)

I love my diamond amps, but seriously, do something to get rid of that diamond boner...

rob3980 -> RE: Need your help with a metal system please! (5/4/2008 1:59:53 PM)

Well Diamond makes some great products I actually like JL subs and amps better but they are so damn expensive! And he has a small budget for his stereo

mattlowe01 -> RE: Need your help with a metal system please! (5/4/2008 2:19:15 PM)

You could go for the DLS MS6A + nine.2 combo at eD for 375. Comes with the two comps, two tweeters, two crossovers, and a 2 channel amp for 375$
1 13Ov.2 for 70$
and then find a decent amp to power the 13Ov.2 (b-stock nine.2 goes for 185, dunno if it will be enough to power a 13Ov.2)
then use the rest on wiring and a box

dont worry about a rear stage unless you care about your back seat passengers enjoyment

anthony7676 -> RE: Need your help with a metal system please! (5/5/2008 12:20:43 AM)

ok i see alot of good info here. and its a big start anyone know about the eD stuff?
I went to there site and i am thinking that may be the way to go. So if you have eD comps and subs and so on could you tell me what you think of the eD line up? As in sound and there lifespan and so on?  And the $700 is what i have for just now i am going to spend about $2000 when all is said. Sorry that i did not be more clear with that. *to much beer* lol

I'd do a 15" if you like metal. I just like the way it sounds, metal has alot more low bass than alot of people like to think. And this comes back to the myth that 10's are tighter, and 15's play rap low notes better. It's not really that, a 15" has more cone surface (Sd) it moves more air, so when you compare say a 10" and a 15" in similiar price ranges when a 15" plays a lower note with the same amount of power it's going to move in and out (excursion) roughly the same, but when your talking almost double the Sd, it again moves more air. The reason so many people go with 12" is because it, generally, is a nice average between Sd and excursion. Lately I have been looking at subwoofer woofer size selection as more of an eq choice rather than budget decision. If you like metal chances are your system is going to lack in the low end of the hertz spectrum, so getting a 15" that when it plays those lower frequencies will now have gained where it would commonly lack. If I were building say a system for someone who listens to 98% rap, I would get a pair of 10's in a large ported box, because there is a ton of mids in rap and hip hop, but most people that listen to it just want it loud as all hell. There is alot all those gangstas are missing out there because they want to rattle house windows everywhere they go. https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=15481b4e6d120a4/shopdata/0020_Q/product_overview.shopscript

The stuff you were directed to on eD's site is a DLS component system, it's not made by eD, they just carry them. DLS is fantastic audio. If I am in the market for speakers I pretty much only look at CDT and DLS. Whether its for my car, or for a friend.

rob3980 -> RE: Need your help with a metal system please! (5/5/2008 4:24:04 PM)

Well if your gonna spend more later id look at it like this you already have a deck and your car already has speakers so go with what you dont have, some subs and a good class d amp. Personally id stay away from 15's ive had them and hated them but also we have small trunks! With that said go with 2 12" subs , whatever brand you go with make sure that the subs are Dual 4 ohm subs so that you can bridge them into a 1 ohm load to match whatever class D amp you get. Most class D amps are rated around 1000 to 1200 watts RMS so you should get a sub that can handle at least id say 600 to 800 watts RMS a piece. I have never heard CDT or DLS so I cannot tell you if they are good but like i said I like
for subs: Alpine Type X series, Diamond Audio, Arc Audio-Flatline series, Jl Audio w7 ,w6 or w3 are all good
for amps: ALpine PDX, Arc Audio Foose amps, Memphis, Rockford, Kicker, JL Audio
For amps no matter who you go with I would go with the companies higher end amplifers.

Any reason for that or is it just because youre not currently running 15's?

And aside from your liking of Diamond, I don't think I have seen you post much thats been worth thinking about, let alone purchasing.

but also we have small trunks

Then you don't know how to build things. It's not hard, I have gotten a 4.5 cube in my trunk and still had plenty of room for anything I needed in my trunk... beer, my battery, groceries, just about anything. But then again I don't use my stang to transport illegals or anything else too large to fit in the backseat.

And if you haven't ever heard of CDT or DLS then you clearly aren't in the audio world enough to be making any helpful suggestions.

rob3980 -> RE: Need your help with a metal system please! (5/5/2008 8:44:09 PM)

I dont like 15's because I think they are sloppy, its just not my kind of sub im into 12's. AS far as not being in the audio world because I dont know much about 2 name brands you named , let me ask you what do you know about Arc Audio product and Canton car audio? Just because one doesnt know about a certian product doesnt mean they arent "in the audio world" And as far as you not being interested in what I post well this isnt your post im posting about, so keep that S*it to yourself cuz no one cares. Im tryin to help this guy out with the knowledge that I have about the product i know. So if you dont like what I post dont read it!

Hisss04Cobra -> RE: Need your help with a metal system please! (5/5/2008 9:48:10 PM)

Rob.

Your car audio knowledge so far consists of a type x, jl audio, diamond, and Arc audio.

With Arc audio being slightly above the rest in terms of bang for the buck.

Don't come on here and try to shell out garbage information, especially without a proper background in good taste, or exceptional installation abilities.

Your opinions are worthless in this case, because this 'metal head' desires a 'system' that will outperform all of Your 'name' brands for a good price.

Please try to learn some good tools of the trade before You begin hammering on about Jl audio, Alpine, and such.

rob3980 -> RE: Need your help with a metal system please! (5/5/2008 9:55:12 PM)

Your forgetting I have mentioned MB quartz and focal and I have never said that the products i mentioned are the best I said they are the ones i like that I have experience with as far as u sayin what i say is garbage who r you anyways? yup just another guy on a forum that think he knows everything LMAO you guys make me laugh![:D]

MB Quart(z)-as you like to call it)) has been dead for a number of years, unless you find some old stuff on eBay, they aren't worth a damn anymore. Focal puts out some of the best sounding speakers on the market, most people, however, will settle for the very slight decrease in SQ in order to save $1,000 by choosing a brand such as DLS or CDT Gold's. Most people on the forums don't need or desire a system of that quality, mostly because of the price, which is why their name isn't tossed around much in these forums.

Yes I am familiar with Arc as well as Canton. I brought up the matter because if someone had a question about a Ford why would they ask you a question if say all you have ever owned or worked on was Chevy's and VW's.

My credentials are to the left and at the top of the A/V section in the stickies area. There has been 100 of you come here, toss out a few top company names, and then you're gone as fast as you came in. People like me stick around because we have been there done that, blown that up, and wasted money on Company A and Company B, accidently hooked this up backwards, and everything in between. People trust us and our opinions because of our experience level.

Yes all four of the brand names you have ran in your car. I have worked in 3 different shops and owned almost a dozen vehicles and nothing has been the same in any of those cars, please tell me who has listened to a larger range of equipment. Not to mention every kid, again just like you, who has pulled up to the shops and asked, "What's wrong with my system, I paid $2,000 for it and it sound like crap." I get the pleasure of listening to it, tuning it a tad, and then walking them in the store and showing them something they should have looked at before taking some random, unexperienced, isolated dudes opinion on a forum seriously. That's why we take such pride, alot times with blunt and rude statements, in helping people out. Because the ones who took our advice frequently come back in and thank us for our help and time. Ones who take your advice seriously are back in here in 2 months when you will be long gone, and then we get to try and help them out yet again. That is of course if they come back here, because they just figure everyone on this forum is as inexperienced and lack information, such as yourself.

You can put your hand down now.
