Default LSD: Proper Dosage

LOL!... The rear Diff not the Drug!

How do you tell the proper amount of friction modifier for an LSD for performance applications?

My rear diff calls for 4 oz and I used 2 oz for better LSD Bite. No chatter when turning just a slight "push" when accelerating and turning at the same time. Like a right turn from a stop sign.

This is the way I always set them up because thats what my Dad told me. IE Slight Push but no chatter. Doesnt mean its right.

Might cause the clutches to wear sooner. The push is from less differentiation during the turn, my Richmond Locker does that if I power in the turn since it goes into total axle lock. Have you always run your LSD's like that? And how long have the clutches lasted?

Yes, Ive always ran them this way when I changed fluid. Started at half additive level and added friction moddifier until chatter ceased. With new limited slip clutches I usually pre-soak them before install and do a few figure 8's to wear them in. Then check for chatter. Ive never noticed a significantly shorter life. However Im not sure Ive ever put over 20,000 mi on a LSD thus treated. Ether I changed the combo or traded. Ive had some that acted this way from the factory. Usually the ones with the more effective factory limited-slips. I assume this is from a more aggressive bias.

The factory LSD in the Mustang has a pretty low bias as set at the factory.
I just did gears and thus changed the fluid. Im getting ready to install stickier tires.
I had my suspicion that one-wheel peel would be a problem during burnouts with factory amount of additive.
The push isnt excessive you can just feel it in a 90 degree turn from a stop.
