Installed the new Web-Electric One Touch Convertible Top Module today, and I am very very happy with it.

$49.95
http://www.webelectricproducts.com/products.htm

It makes a huge difference not only in convenience, but also in time. The top now opens in about 9-10 seconds (OEM it took 16-17 seconds). This is mostly due to the programming where the windows now go down simultaneously as the convertible top instead of windows-first, then top-second. I think the top travels quicker now too. This allows for seatbelt, radio adjusting, etc and then GO! Plus, I can see this coming in very handy at stoplights where that 6-7 seconds could be all the difference. Cool factor also elevated!

The install was very easy, although I recommend buying a few high quality butt crimp connectors instead of using the quick-splice pieces that comes in the kit. I'm not a big fan of the quick-splices.

A quick story... I couldn't get the one-touch close function to program correctly, so I sent web-electrics an email tonight. Well, about 6 emails back and forth later (all within 20 minutes), I found out I wasn't pressing the buttons quick enough to program the top. It works perfect now but I was blown away with the service provided after 10pm on a Saturday night.

This company and this kit comes highly recommend by this customer.

Thank you Web-Electric !

So, instead of windows first, then top, they all go down at the same time? Pretty nifty.

Thanks for the review.  It and their auto-down rear windows are my next planned mods.

Looks cool.

Did you have any trouble starting your car after this install?

What all comes in the hit.  How does it know it's all the way or or down?

exx1976... you should go on tour with that humor!

Install was about an hour, but I took my sweet time and I was already a bit exhausted from installing my gentex mirror and meter4it chase kit. The hour included realizing how cheap the quick splice units that came in the kit were and a 10 minute run to Lowe's for new ones.

The kit comes with the module, a few quick-splice units (junk) and a few zip ties. Thats it.

All connections are made at the Smart Junction Box is the passenger kick panel. Make sure you have good lighting so you can pick out the right wires. Some are difficult to distringuish from each other.

Once all connections are made, you have to program the top to tell the module how far up and how far down to travel before shutting down the top motor. Programming is simple and requires simply pressing the DOWN button 6 times and then the 7th time holding it until the top is all the way down. Same for going UP. Very simple.

Sweet !

Is there a decreased time delay between the windows cracking and the roof moving now or does it all move off at the same time?

No delay at all. Once you click the DOWN button once everything starts moving all at once, hands free. By the time the top is down your seat belt is on, your radio is tuned, your volume is up, you're in gear, and you're ready to cruise!

I was just complaing about how long you have to hold the switch today....  my wife thanks you for me pissing away more money on my car.

So if I understand correctly, it is auto up as well?  With no problem since you 'set' where it stops?

I just ordered one too.  Now maybe I can get my top down almost as fast as my buddy's 911 - he just pushes one button...no latches. (but his car still sounds like a Maytag washing machine )  Thanks for the writeup & recommendation, Larmo!

"7 seconds"? You guys can't leave your finger on the button for 7 additional seconds? How are you going to survive having to "manually" use your hands to unlock and lock the top latches? I'm going to develop and market a wrist brace that will enusre no one tweeks a wrist muscle while operating the top latches. It will be color coded and have the horse logo on it. lol!

It took one hour to install. You save 7 seconds in operating time. That means if you calculate the 7 seconds of operation into the 60 minutes of installation time, you will have to operate the roof a total of 514 times until you "break even". Bitch'in!

What happens if someone accidently push the down button and the top is still latched? Does the latch have an interlock so the motor doesn't try to drive or will it try to to the top down?

And you just wasted 30 seconds flaming that you'll never get back. Congratulations.

Thanks for the review.  I had seen these but didn't know how they worked.  Now I know that you program the up and down cycle.
