i recently bought a kenwood head unit to put in my 96, and im having trouble because the wire colors do not match up. i bought a manual for my car that has a wiriing harness diagram in it, but the colors still dont match and i dont know which wires tocut and which ones to keep.
any help or advice.
if not, im going to pay to have someone do it, but id like to get the experience of doing it myself.

Then buy an adapter harness and stop hacking up your factory wires. Some task you shouldn't jump into without having someone experienced to help you. This is one of them. Adapters are $10-15. They plug in to your factory harness so you can go stock again, and they plain work better.

Dont EVER EVER cut the stock wiring harness. Biggest mistake you could ever do when you can spend $3 at Walmart and get the adapter to hook right into the stock harness. That is the biggest pain in the ass move that anyone can do.

Does anyone have a 96 stock harness I could buy? The person that had it before me cut the speaker harness because they did not but the right wiring harness, they bought the one for the stock system not the mach 460. SO they cut the stock speaker harness off. Does anyone have one I could buy. I can't find any on ebay or in my junk yards.

Take it to a shop and let them do it, it'll be worth it, espescially if someone already started hacking it up prior to you getting it.

Just dont take it to Best Buy. Every system I have seen come out of there is crap in my opinion.

I took my car to Circuit City to have the stereo installed, they did a good job. Took em like 20 minutes and cost $40 plus the cost of the wiring harness addapters. If they screw things up, they have to fix it. If you screw something up, you pay for it. I know how to install stereos and I still took it to them because it can be pain in the a$$.
