hello, i got a question that i hope somebody can help me with.  i have a 65 mustang with 2, 6.5 and 2, 6x9. my radio is a sony xplod. the speakers are the same brand. i want more bass, sounds to weak. i saw a sony xplod 4 channel amp running at 600 watts peak, i think it said 65 watts rms. my question would be, would this amp help give me a little more bass? i really dont want something to loud. I also saw 2 12's in a ported box with a 1800 watt amp, sony as well. if i add the 12's would it be better or just go with the 600 watt amp?

You really need to answer a couple questions before we can help you. I also own a 65 and have a decent amount of audio ready to go in it...

How much do you want to spend?

What type of music do you listen to?

Will you be installing yourself?

Thanks PReal, hopefully this will help. For price amount i'm thinking somewhere around 400, if I where to get some 12's, box and an amp. Don't know if thats possible, its because I saw two 12's in a ported box for 85 at the sony outlets. They also told me they had a good amp for those speakers for 199. Now for a single amp for the 6x9, and 6.5 some where bout 200. I want something to sound nice, I like loud music where you can hear a couple of cars away but i really don't want that for this car. I would like some thing were its a decent amount, don't know if I'm explaining myself.

For music I listen mostly to hip hop, r&b, regeaton, and some spanish music, depends where I'm at or who I'm with.

And I was planning on installing it myself I can do some simple hook ups, one amp.  Still haven't tried to do multiple amps or amps with crossovers. But I think its kind of the same procedure, don't know might be wrong.

Hate to tell you but Sony car audio is 100% garbage. The only thing even worth considering buying is a super cheap HU. I'm not trying to bash what you have purchased, but you can do a ton better buying over the web.

I will assume you have a total of $400 for the sub, box, wiring, and both amps, but I will also make a $600 recommendation. I also will never amp rear speakers becuase it defeats the sound stage if they overpower the front, and upgrade your front speakers to something worth listening to.

This is what I would go with for $400 total.

Comps: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5207 $99

Comp Amp: http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/2839 $55

Sub: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?products_id=721 $70 (Awesome deal)

Sub Amp: http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/6443 $80

Box: Build your own for $30

Wiring: Dual amp kit from walmart for $30

Total = $365 minus shipping so right around $400

If I had $600...

Comps: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5207 $99

Comp Amp: http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/2212 $100

Sub: 2x http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?products_id=721 $140 (Awesome deal)

Sub Amp: http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/2214 $115

Box: Build your own for $30

Wiring: Dual amp kit from walmart for $30

That leaves you around $75-100 for shipping for a total of a little under $600.

Ya sorry bro Sony car audio sucks! If i were you id get rid of all your sony stuff and pick up new stuff, but if you dont want to do that maybe use the $400 and pick up a 12"sub and a sub amp, I would go with a ported box. Some good car audio name brands are

Alpine,Diamond Audio,JL Audio,Memphis Audio, MB Quartz,Focal, there is alot more but those are just a few. And the cd plyer/deck that you have will make a huge difference in what your system sound like, so ditch the sony deck and pick up a Eclipse or Alpine deck
