View Full Version : MPG's IN A COBRA...
ACSViper 05-03-2008, 03:30 PM i found one r two 03 cobra's im looking in to. the bank said theyd loan me as long as parents co-sign. so now i need to sell the idea to them. PLEASE help me out n you cobra guys tell me what kinda mpg's you get while cruising. i figure 70mph in 6th, should be pretty good... eye???
p.s. i know i dont give a sh*t about mpg's in this car, just need some numbers to throw at them
just tell them 23 on the highway...
ACSViper 05-03-2008, 05:37 PM would i then be telling the truth?
yeah, if u just leave it in cruise control at 70 mph :D
ACSViper 05-03-2008, 07:07 PM first off mfj... i love the picture in ur sig! second, i got approval from em, bank, n gonna look at one tomorrow. 03 black coupe with 59K miles. askin 22, well se wat we can do. just gotta see wat kinda killer insurance rates ill be payin
562cobra 05-03-2008, 07:41 PM wow. even with a clean driving record your rates are gonna be higher than jiraffe P***y. i have two points on mine, and i pay $450/month for full coverage cobra, liability p/u, and liability sentra. cant wait til 09 when my driving record gets clean. 0 points FTW
xxkazp3rxx 05-04-2008, 11:31 AM Insurance rates depends more on location then anything... I was 21/22 paying 215 p/m on full coverage with 100/300 limits... Esurance rocks! lol...
As far as gas milage; tell them whatever is on the window sticker - I don't think it's over 20mpg, lol.. I know personally I got about 15-18mpg on my ported blower Cobra... depending on the highway, cruise control, my head.... etc.
03Termy 05-04-2008, 01:39 PM yea my 03 doesn't get good milage. fingers crossed for lower gas prices! As long as you keep a light foot you should be around 18 or so..
nherbst454 05-04-2008, 01:45 PM I've still got my window sticker and it sais 22 highway.
jkimbell 05-09-2008, 10:48 AM I will second what xxkazp3rxx says about esurace. I just got an 03 termi when I was 23 and I have clean record and my insurance is about 140 monthly on full coverage with 100/300 limits.
As far as gas mileage, if you drive moderately you should get 18 to 19 between city and highway. It's just hard not to drive it like you stole it.
758cobra 05-10-2008, 09:08 AM I have great rates and i had 3 tickets before but that didnt jump my rates. I have a 96 svt cobra and i pay 98 a month full coverage, when i turned 21 it went from 140 a month to the 98

So ACS, did you end up getting the Termie??
ACSViper 05-10-2008, 08:08 PM not yet. i got the go ahead from bank n parents. insurance said around 100 a month (anything u could possibly have insured, my family does with this one guy). my dads an old car guy (mustangs too:D) and he convinced me to hold out for my dream car, and not settle for something around here or cheap. so it WILL be a sonic blue coupe. its tough to travel to see them though
boostin95cobra 05-10-2008, 08:19 PM Damn! Only 100 for a termie! Nice.[sm=smiley16.gif]
I'm paying $48/month for full coverage on mine...but its old and so am I.[&o]
uptonmustang 05-13-2008, 07:01 PM I'm getting 19/24 depending on the mood. And 115/mo for FC on 03 Cobra, 99 Ranger, 96 V6, and Liab. on 90 Diahatsu Rocky.
RODRIGUEZ 05-14-2008, 09:11 PM Whats a Termie? Terminator since Cobras kill?
96CsTaNg 05-14-2008, 09:35 PM my cobra gets ok gas mileage as long as I keep my foot off the gas. Good Luck I hope that you get it. My insurance only went up 90. And Im 26
orange1997GT 05-15-2008, 06:11 PM terminator was nickname for 03-04 cobra before release, to end any competition from Camaro/Trans Am
limp1969 05-15-2008, 09:46 PM you guys are not very smart for the money you pay on insurance you could buy a second car. Buy a 95 honda civic insurance it with low coverage then call heacock collector insurance and pay 200 a year like I do $250 a month for insurance is stupid I have friends with dui s driving $40k cars paying $130 a month
Buyer be wear on a 59k mile cobra Iam sure the last own didnt drive it hard ha ha ha yeah right!
Just bought another cpbra its a 98 $135 a year $12k agreed value no deductiable 250/500
1990 gt same $48 a year $4k value
1965 fast back $200 a year $35k value
1970 428scj $350 a year $65k value
03 cobra $200 a year $26k value
68 gt/cs $225 a year $45k value
You just need a DD and they match the coverage
$250 a month take the extra $200+ a month and put miles on a junky car that you can drive in the rain and snow
jimbob8915 06-11-2008, 11:27 PM I am old (40) andhave a good driving record. I pay $459 every six months for 100/300 which is about $77/month. Now as for gas mileage I have never really gotten better than 14mpg per tank as I CANNOT keep my foot out of it.
ACSViper 06-12-2008, 07:53 PM an answer to my own thread... now that i got my car, my dad drove it home from texas. first gas stop he calculated 22 mpg pretty much all highway driving. second time he didnt do the math, but felt he did a little better. and for insurance, im workin out the paperwork with state farm, and ill pay 575 for 6 months, and i have yet to tell them its got a lojack! im happy with that!
My_1st_Stang 06-13-2008, 09:47 AM So far I checked and I'm getting 17 in the city. That's taking it easy of course...
antiv6 06-13-2008, 10:06 AM congrats on the car, when i went to mustang week last year i got 27 mpg highway doing 75ish highway:) when i had just intake exhaust

My insurance company(westfield insurance) said if i want full coverage its about $200ish a month:(

97snakecharmer 06-22-2008, 07:42 AM got a 97 snake. when it was running I got between 20-23 mpg. The problem is "leadfootitis" which is verycommon, and will drop any good mpg. FC ins runs about 90/mo and i'm 32 with a clean record. [8D]
