my wife decided i needed a hobby. so i just bought an 89 mustang lx with the 5.0 and she's going to give me 300 bucks a month to fix it up for an undefined period of time. the car cost about 2 grand and is a daily driver that leaks oil and shifts a bit rough (AOD). at first i was going to rip the whole car apart and rebuild it, but after i lifted the hood and came to realization that i don't know nearly enough, so i decided to start small, and save my money for after i know what i'm doing.
my plan is to buy a rebuild kit that includes the pistons and simply overhaul the engine. after that, i'll move on to headers, intake, etc. my question is this: does anybody know of a book or website that will give me step by step instructions on removing the engine? i see a lot about the engine itself, but not so much about its removal. any assistance would be appreciated.
i got a haynes manual for my stang. It covers the 1994 - 2004 models. I dont know if they have one for an 89. I suppose they do. Cost me $20 from Advance. The book helps out alot.
