Ive got an 03 mach, and it sounds like it has a lifter ticking. I know it doesn't have them, but thats what it sounds like. Its on the drivers side. Does anyone else have that problem, or know anything about it???????

I could be totally talking out of my a$$ here, but I didn't think 4.6 modulars had lifters?? I thought this was only the pushrods like the LSx's?

Mine makes a ticking sound every few seconds when my A/C is on  Could it be that? I thought I had the infamous head tick but nope... it's only my A/C that makes a click sound every so often.

Though it says for Cobras, it apparently can be for Mach 1's.

I had the driver side head replaced in my 03 Mach before it went out of warranty. If you have the tick you know it. It’s not the faint sound of the injectors firing. If you want to check for the tick, pull the car up to a wall driver side. You will really hear it. It was really noticeable at drive up windows like at the bank or a fast food joint. On mine it would get louder as I let the car idle a while.
If it was my car and it was out of warranty I would just drive it.

modulars don't have lifters. Justin said he knew it didn't have them, just that the noise sounded like it.

How loud is it?

ive been dealing with this ticking sound for to long now. its something to do with #7/8 cyclinder not getting enough cooling and or the vavle guides are off. Which gives u the tick noise. this also causes oil consumption. i think im burning oil and my ticking is louddd. i heard they replaced the bad cyclinders that will give u future problems on the 03 cars. in other words its nothing to worry about.. u can tell if for chaged them by looking at the bottoms of ur cylinder heads.. there should be a blue strip. i really dont know much about ne thing im talkign about ive just done a tonn of research on mach1regristry and those are some of the things ive found.. some guys have lost motors because of it. but for the most part it seems like more then 50 % of the 03 cars have this problem.. they also said if u dont have the blue strip on bottom of cyclinder heads type engine the problem could turn serious.. once agian im just kinda repeating what ive read.. im still unsure what to do or if i even should worry about it
