So, as I said in another post, about 1,000 miles after putting on my dual exhaust, my check engine light came on. Dealership replaced the bank 1 o2 sensor. So, on my way home today, after about 300 miles, the check engine light comes on AGAIN! I can only imagine it is the same problem, and that my dual exhaust is causing. Before to long the dealership is gonna catch on that my exhaust is modified, and not cover it. Also, I don't really want to have to keep replacing o2 sensors. So, has anyone else had this problem? Anyway to fix it? Anyone know a cause for it? Any info is appreciated!

When you had your duals installed, did they mess with the sensors? I know my shop asked me if I wanted my cats gutted, but I told them the car is new and I didn't want to void my warranty. I've had over 1000 miles since my install.....no problems so far.
No, I did not mess with my sensors. Just cut the old pipe off after the cats. The code I am getting is for the bank 1 oxygen sensor, drivers side before the cats. Replaced it once, 300 miles later, set it off again.
No, I don't have a tuner, but if I had one, I could just turn off the o2 sensors and take care of it? I am not following. Could you explain more in detail? Could I turn it off with anything else(code reader from say....autozone?). I know that it is not hurting anything, but looking at my dashboard and seeing the little orange motor lit up just drives my INSANE!
I have had my duals on for about 9 months, and a lot of miles, and no problems. I cut off just after the cats and welded in a FRPP X pipe in place of the Y.

But in that 3,000 mile period that I hadn't had tunes, nothing ever happened. hope it isn't a big issue for you guys wanting to replace your exhaust in the future either!!!
I have about 6000 miles on my H duals. No problems. I reflashed today from 87 to 91 octane. I change many parameters and I don't see where to turn off the o2 sensors. I'd like to know more about that please.

I doubt your dual exhaust system is the reason for the problem. Your cats are still in place so you really don't have a loss of back pressure. I think the problem is someplace else. Maybe your engine is running rich and there is unburnt fuel fouling the o2 sensors. A tune won't do anything for you because a tune only shuts off the rear o2 sensors which are after the cats.
^To the poster above me You can't turn off the o2 sensors with your Xcal. The tune shop is able to adjust many more parameters than the ones the Xcal allows you to change on screen. Only the tune shop can turn your o2 sensors on or off.

I agree with Silver Vert 06 the root of this problem is likely elsewhere. If you have a code reader see if the same one is flagged as bad again. If so try swapping it with the opposite side and see if the problem follows the sensor or stays with the same side of the exhaust. I suppose you could end up with two bad sensors that way so keep that in mind. First though you may want to test the O2 sensors with a volt meter to see if it is actually still good. I believe the big maint manual has the test procedure. I googled it and came up with a list of promising results.Check this one to start, it looks pretty informative.
Ok, makes me feel a little better that my exhaust may not be causing this, but nervous because it could be a bigger problem. One thing I have noticed is that since my check engine light came on, I am getting WAY better gas mileage. I mean way better, like 4mpg better, it isn't even close. I have not changed my driving habits either, so the only thing I could think of is that the engine is running to lean??? I am at a total loss. I guess I will have to take it back to the dealership next week and see what they can figure out.

jakecat22 it could be that the 02 sensor Ford installed may have been a defective one. I had a problem with my emissions light coming on in my E-350. Ford was trying to tell me it was the gas cap not on right, but the light kept coming on. Finally they replaced the sensor and no more problems.
Just because the check engine light came again on doesn't mean that it is the same problem. that light comes on for a bunch of reasons. Have the code read before you freak out. Besides your an 05, isn't your warranty expired(or about to do so). I would like to know because I have an 05 and I thought my warranty was up?
"came again on" WTF!!! It must be my dislexia coming back to haunt me. Or I was Russian in a past life!!....dislexia??? I really doubt thats how you spell it. Damn public school education...

Car is an 05, but only has 23k miles on it, and the "in service" date is 27 Jan 2006, which means my warranty is still good till 27 jan 2009, or 36k, which ever comes first. Your 3 year warranty starts when the car was put in service, IE: sold to the first buyer. Check that date, it may still be under warranty.
07 Stang, I hope that is it, I am bringing it back to the dealer this week, we will see what happens.
cat back JBA true duals with H pipe. No problems / no lights. I also have JBA 9mm wires and a K&N CAI with shaker connected directly to it. If it hasn't come on by now I doubt it will..............

OK, so I had the engine codes run today at advanced auto parts, 3 codes came up, 2 are the same as last time:
Same codes as before: P0153, bank 1 sensor 1 P0153, bank 1 sensor 1 (heat resistor) Those codes came up last time, but this is the one that scares me:
New Code: P0300, Engine(cylinder) Misfire.
WTF???? My engine is misfiring? I suppose that is causing the o2 sensor to go bad? Now I am afraid to drive it, it is going to the dealership first thing in the morning.
