Default Which security sytem/remote start?

Hey guys,
I'm looking into getting an aftermarket security system on my car. I dont know much about them, so was just seeing what you guys recommend. I would like to get a security system along with a remote start if its possible. Also, I dont need a top of the line crazy system, I'm not looking to spend a fortune. thanks guys

Viper and Compustar both make great alarm systems

anything dei makes(snakes viper, sidewinder), code alarm, ungo, compustarwill be a good alarm that should last for the next decade, IF IT IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY! The best case scenario for a good alarm with a bad install is that the alarm will not work, the worst case scenario is that your car will not start/run needing to be towed and fixed before you can start to install alarm agian. I have seen DIYers put in there own alarm and fixed many of them, or rejected installing anything in the car until the alarm was fixed. Most shops do not like to install alarms that you bring in to them since if there is a problem with the alarm unit itself you will expect them to fix/warrenty it. For them to be able to do it and be safe if there are any problems in the future you will normally not find many places that will touch them for less then $100, normally more then that. If you know a good installer that will work on the side you might be able to savea couple of bucks but for alarms I really recommend going to a reputable shop to take care of it. With that being said to find a good shop you need to ask how they make their connections(crimp is acceptable, solder is prefered and t-taps are a NO-NO)? Do they take the time to hide the alarm or do they just tie it up above the pedals? Are they familiar with your car? I also recommend staying away from the big box shops as they are normally wanting nothing more then to get your car in and slammed out as fast as possible, quality of work is 2nd priority.

Yes.

Code Alarm, I wouldn't buy anything from now unless it's Code.. I have a Viper 871 or whatever, it's the lcd 2-way system, on my stang and I cant stand it.

Why do you say that?

Ive been doing my research and I'm starting to lean towards the Viper 5900 system. The cheapest I can find it for online is $240...feedback?[/align]

now you will need to add at least $100 to that price, maybe closer to 150-200 for a remote start system. I would recommend asking around and see what local shops people might recommend. Where are you at? I might be able to hook you up with a local shop but you will be better off buying the alarm there. I have not purchased anything from BBY for almost 10 yrs now and I plan on continuing that streak. I know some good people at circuit........

Do not ever let Best buy or Circuit City etc touch your car take it to a actual stereo shop where they know their head from their ass! Get a Viper or Compustar trust me on this one!
