ORIGINAL: WRXtranceformed Wow. Well any skepticism about how fast this car really was is pretty much squashed. I definitely think the power is severely underrated still from what Nissan says, but who cares! This is the second fastest car around the Nurburgring in the world now, and when the V-Spec comes out it will likely beat the Zonda F, which completely blows my mind. http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080501.002/official-nissan-announced-gt-r-laps-nurburgring-in-7m-29s quote:
The Nissan GT-R can now lay claim to being one of the fastest production cars in the world after GT-R chief test driver Tochio Suzuki completed the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany in just 7 minutes 29 seconds. According to our records, this puts the GT-R in second place for fastest laps by unmodified production cars just behind the Pagani Zonda F which posted a time of 7 minutes and 27 seconds last November. The time completely destroys the GT-R's previous best lap of 7 minutes 38 seconds achieved last year in slightly damp conditions. Kazutoshi Mizuno, Chief Vehicle Engineer for GT-R said “At last year’s testing, we were frustrated by the conditions at the Nürburgring, always believing that the GT-R could go under seven minutes 30 seconds, the GT-R proves it is among the fastest mass-production cars in the world. We set out to build a multi-performance supercar accessible to anyone, anytime and anywhere – I believe the GT-R has delivered that promise.” The world can now look forward to a response from the GT-R's main competitor, the Porsche 911 Turbo whose best time stands at a lowly 7 minutes and 40 seconds. [image]http://images.worldcarfans.com/2008/5/1/9080501.002/9080501.002.1L1.jpg[/image] technically, it's 7th for street-legal cars 1. Radical SR8: 6:55 2. Radical SR3 Turbo: 7:12 3. Donkervoort D8 RS: 7:14 (higher HP model) 4. Donkervoort D8 RS: 7:18 5. Pagani Zonda F Clubsport: 7:27.82 6. Porsche Carrera GT: 7:28 7. Nissan GT-R: 7:29 still gotta admit, the GT-R is one badass car for what it is. but i still think that there is too much technology in that car. i'd still take a 993 GT2 over a GT-R any day of the week (or a 993 GT2 powered 914, which would kick even more ass[;)])
