View Full Version : GTR just behind the Zonda F around the 'ring!

Wow. Well any skepticism about how fast this car really was is pretty much squashed. I definitely think the power is severely underrated still from what Nissan says, but who cares! This is the second fastest car around the Nurburgring in the world now, and when the V-Spec comes out it will likely beat the Zonda F, which completely blows my mind.

http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080501.002/official-nissan-announced-gt-r-laps-nurburgring-in-7m-29s (http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080501.002/official-nissan-announced-gt-r-laps-nurburgring-in-7m-29s)

The Nissan GT-R can now lay claim to being one of the fastest production cars in the world after GT-R chief test driver Tochio Suzuki completed the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany in just 7 minutes 29 seconds. According to our records, this puts the GT-R in second place for fastest laps by unmodified production cars just behind the Pagani Zonda F which posted a time of 7 minutes and 27 seconds last November. The time completely destroys the GT-R's previous best lap of 7 minutes 38 seconds achieved last year in slightly damp conditions.

Kazutoshi Mizuno, Chief Vehicle Engineer for GT-R said “At last year’s testing, we were frustrated by the conditions at the Nürburgring, always believing that the GT-R could go under seven minutes 30 seconds, the GT-R proves it is among the fastest mass-production cars in the world. We set out to build a multi-performance supercar accessible to anyone, anytime and anywhere – I believe the GT-R has delivered that promise.”

The world can now look forward to a response from the GT-R's main competitor, the Porsche 911 Turbo whose best time stands at a lowly 7 minutes and 40 seconds.[/align]

I don't think the power is underrated.. (given results on the 1/4 tracks I've seen)... It's simply the NSX of this decade... only with power to support its handling ability.

Some slightly messed up figures there.

The Carrera GT is between the Zonda and the GTR still so that would make it the 3rd fastest production car. Yet the Britis still remain on top of the leader board with the fastest road legal car around the ring. Not quite as comfy or practical as the GTR but who the hell cares about those qualities?

Definitely kick ass results.. lol 2nd in the world behind the Pagani? jeebus.. Though I'm waiting to see what the GT2's response is going to be.. Definitely wouldn't count on Porsche sitting around quietly while Nissan usurps their title. lol

Your right..I found a few charts...looks like it's making 500ish hp (crank)... low 400s at the tires... must be that weight killing the traps or something... especially considering they appear to be a cakewalk to launch... Hmmm.. have to wait to see more results pour in...

technically, it's 7th for street-legal cars

1. Radical SR8: 6:55
2. Radical SR3 Turbo: 7:12
3. Donkervoort D8 RS: 7:14 (higher HP model)
4. Donkervoort D8 RS: 7:18
5. Pagani Zonda F Clubsport: 7:27.82
6. Porsche Carrera GT: 7:28
7. Nissan GT-R: 7:29

still gotta admit, the GT-R is one badass car for what it is. but i still think that there is too much technology in that car. i'd still take a 993 GT2 over a GT-R any day of the week (or a 993 GT2 powered 914, which would kick even more ass;))

I looooooooooove the GTR. One of my friends has more money than he knows what to do with. He has owned cars that we only dream about, and still gets....bored...anyhow I've convinced him to order (his name is currently on the list) a silver GTR. I am certain that after he puts 50 or so thousand into it it will be THE street car in Vancouver. Yeah that's right Doc. Rogers you rice hater, it will have the capacity to cornhole your C6 Z06 (which I love) a new ****locker in every facet of performance. And that goes for the new Viper too. This GTR is for real, and when the tuning community get at it it will be even more beastly still. Beware, and tread lightly Doc...

Don't make me chew you pal. My friend has owned the LP640 and sold it due to the fact that it was too big and hard to drive fast. $125K is peanuts to him provided (as I'm sure it will) it be a dominant machine. PM if you'd like to further discuss my level of stupidity... And for the record, would that 50K show it's teeth better in a GTR than a Z06? I'm willing to gamble that it would. It's not so much that I love the GTR as I think you're a bonesmoker right now....

And I'm pretty sure Mr. Rogers would understand that 50K into a GTR would rape his Z and laugh at them even being compared. I'm sure as a fellow C6 Z06 owner you've seen what the GTR is capable of. It's nothing personal. This goes back to a seperate matter in which there's still a misunderstanding. If my last post was the most stupid you've ever read than you don't read enough around here...

It will get me from a dig, no doubt..but after that it's smooth sailing. I'll be walking that thing before I shift out of 3rd..

Again I'm not worried.

I have already gave the GTR it's props, though I'd rather buy a GT2.

But since you like predicting the outcomes of cars that you don't have, racing against other cars that you don't have, how do you predict the GT2 vs GTR match up ending?

Maybe if you toss your rich friends salad, he'll let you drive one of his fast cars..then you be able to feel like a winner for once:)

LOL.. I don't know what you're smoking but your posts are some funny sh!t.. stop bein such an abrasive nissan leg-humper and you MIGHT be more well received..

BTW, I think it'll have some competition once Aston Martin fields the V12 Vantage RS in 09.. ;)Maybe not quite the corner hugging ability of the nissan, but less technology, a LOT more style, and certainly more luxury. But since we're talking perfromance, and the fact that the GTR's are fairly well priced as supercars anyway, I think I'll stick with the S7 and the 40th anniversary GT40 thank you.. The GTR and the GT2 are miles apart $ wise, it's not even close. But it matters not...I just reread all my drunk posts and appologize. I still think the GTR is the way to go but if my posts don't make sense credibility is lost. The GTR is going to run about 100K in Canada before the modding starts. Another 50K into that thing and it will be the epitome of a street/track car. And for half the price of his old Murcielago and for mounds less than a GT2. But it's not a Porsche. So ****ing what.Once you get past the pedigree and realize that it will perform better for less, and look far more exotic weeping it'strack prowess ( I mean how discernable is a GT2 to the average hump?)the whole equation gets easier. The bottom line is, if I was asked what I'd prefer to blast around a road course for an hour in, a GT2 or a meniacle GTR with 50K well thought out dollars into it I would choose the GTR faster than a rabbit gets ****ed. Meh, maybe it's the boy racer in me. Or the desire to go faster better...;)

The car looks great on paper, and the times it is getting are great, but all I have to do is look at its body and I know I would never consider buying one. When spending that much money it no longer becomes about who is faster(for me at least), but more about who has more class, and the GTR looks like a 350z or 'roids. Id rather have a Z06 or Porsche or any of its other slower but more attractive competitors. I will give credit where credit is due and say that it is one hell of a performer and has more technology in it than I could ever figure out how to use
