So I was reading Road & Track or Car & Driver or something at the dentist office the other day and it said that all auto-manufacturers must begin complying with new laws regarding emmisions and such, and so Ford, as a result, would be required to put a more efficient engine in the GT.

They are going to put an EcoBoost twin-turbo 6 Cyl. in the GT that will have more HP than the current 4.6, I think the target date is 2012 or something. Some Ford people were quoted saying the market won't buy the switch.

So the question is....
Would you care if your GT had only 4 or 6 cyls if it was faster than your neighbors GT with 8 cyls?

Does size really matter? Why?

Sorry if this topic has been covered here 10 times, I haven't seen it.

I say stick with the V8. But a twin turbo 6 cylinder would be bad ass.

I would not be adverse to having a TT Mustang.

As long as I also have a 454 or 429 in the garage

Would they really make 3 different engines in 3 years? 2010 4.6 V8, 2011 6.3 (I believe) V8, 2012 V6 TT.
Sounds like too much trouble if you ask me.

The TT V6 is undoubtedly going into production, the question is only whether or not they will put one in the GT.

Someone in the article said all the production muscle cars are going to be a thing of the past, so.... smoke 'em while you got 'em! That's why they will put out the higher output engines now while they can. And I'm sure heavy trucks and such will need to be exempt from the law because sometimes you just need more base displacement and rotational mass, yes? So they will need to keep some big V8s in production.

And that about covers everything that will be said in the next 12 pages if this thread stays open. Good work.

and v8 ftw, thats what aftermarket companies are for...cancel the v8, find a base model stang and drop your own engine in it...problem solved

No, everybody's got the eco laws thing wrong. It's a law that makes all car manufactures to have at least 1 car with like 35mpg+ or something like that, not to kill off all 8 cylinders, if they did that no one would buy trucks and suv's b/c they'd be as slow as ****.

I would take a n/a v8 engine that makes big power over a forced induction v6 thats making the same power any day of the week....a twin turbo v6 will probably be the best it can be right out of the box...wheres the fun in that? gimmee a v8 that i can reach the sky with any day of the week

I'd still rather drop 1000 dollars into a TT V6 (CAI, midpipe, catback, crank the boost and get it retuned) and gain 100 whp than spend 2500 dollars on the V8 to do the same thing.

And so you don't misinterpret, I'd rather have the factory F/I motor from the factory that gets me bang/buck, which is why I also did the Termie swap.
