I just read in my Car and Driver that Chevrolet is putting a 4 banger in the Camaro for a base engine. It will put out more hp than the Iroc-Z ever did. It will be a 2 liter direc-injected turbo with 260 hp. It's the same motor as the Pontiac Soltice and Saturn Sky. The 2010 Camaro will also be available with GM's direct-injected 3.6 liter V6 with 300 hp and a 6.2 liter v8 with 400 hp.

I'm with nightrunner on this one. If I was gonna buy a muscle car like the new Camaro, I'd want the 6.2 NA so I could throw a S/C on there in a few years and have a new car, fast, and sounding bad-ass.

I'm thinking the BASE Mustang should have the V6 TT! And the GT should come stock with the 5.8. And both should be under 30K!

I can dream right?

The part where you implied that making a well tuned high-output V6 Gt was contradictory with the same V6 Gt still having easy room for improvement, from things like exhaust and CAI.

So when you say

I SAID FORD WILL PROBABLY PROBABLY PROBABLY tweak it as much as they can out the box

this tells me that in your opinion it will be as good as it can be from the factory, yes?  But then you say later how you know it is super easy to make more power from a turbo car, implying this one would be the same.  So to make more power out of the car so easily it would not be at full potential would it?  It would not be "tweaked as much as it can be out of the box"  I just see you contradicting yourself and then getting all hurt when called on it and then start throwing insults.  When I think of full potential I think that if I bumped up the turbo 1-2psi the car would blow.  Or a switch in intercoolers or exhaust would do absolutely nothing for me.  Car manufacturers don't build their cars to that kind of level.

To answer the topic, I would definitely sport a V6TT, but honestly I don't ever see it as a replacement for the V8 GT.  It could very well be an option, but I don't think Ford would ever completely cut the V8 out of the GT.

I just read in my car and driver the year is 2008 and technology has changed.

Nice avatar Wishbone.

I'm already swapping to a 6 cylinder twin turbo

But no, I would never drive a 6 cylinder Mustang. That just defies everything that the Mustang is for me. It would hold no value as a car if it didn't have a V8.

I try not to limit myself so I have the '01 GT and '08 V6. Surprisingly not a whole lot of difference in power but a pretty big difference in gas mileage. Plus I can say these new V6's are smooth and quiet. It's just as quiet as my wife 4 cyl. Honda accord. So I take the Gt with Bassani out when I feel rowdy and the new V6 most other times.
