I asked a local speedshop to work up a bid for me on a new block with forged internals. They priced it using my stock aluminum block as well as a brand new Romeo Block.

Here is what is included and total price:

Eagle H Beam Rods
Mahle Coated Forged Pistons
File Fit MOly Rings
H Series Rod and Main Bearings
New Ford Racing High Volume Oil Pump and Screen
ARP Main Studs
4340 Steel Cobra Crankshaft
All Machine Work and Assembly of Rotating Assembly
05 UP 3 V Custom Motor Mount Plates for Iron Romeo Block
FD Modular 4.6 HSK Head Studs
All New Gaskets (heads, valve cam, oil pan, timing cover)
4.6 Rear Main Seal
R&R 4.6 -
Reinstall Whipply HO
Total Cost: $6394 (includes $300 tax and $1400 labor)

Sounds fair. What head gaskets are they using? You want to make sure to use pneumatic gaskets with a stroker build...;)

Cool. Thanks for the heads up on the gaskets. They did not indicate what type of gasket they are using, but I'm sure they will install the correct ones. This particular shop has built a ton of 05-08 Mustang 4.6's and they have a helluva reputation here in Central NC.

I just got to save up the coin now!

Well don't take it for granted and make sure to ask. It is important on a stroker build IMO.

Doesnt look bad from the research I have done.

I am leaning toward an MMR right now for cost, but mine is a just in case something bad happens, than a true performance build.

Good luck.

What area are you in?
I would stay away from the Mahle pistons, go JE IMO.
The pricing is in line though.

What shop is it in central NC, No head work?
That price seems very fair for the amount of work they will be doing.
How much cheaper for using your block?
any warrenty ? and are they going to do the tuning for you ater the install.
If you change cranks to the cobra you will have to get a new flywheel.

Price seems good.

Things to consider. .

tuning
head work (exhaust valve and springs)
fuel pumps or BAP
proper gaskets like moddaddict said
