Default TEST DROVE A GOAT

Yup, I went to the near by rydell dealer and they had an 06 silver goat with 18 inch silver wheels 12k miles for 23k. I wanted to trade in the stang for it. First of all interrior wise WOW ford sucks against pontiac. The gto's interrior was like an imports. Not much cheap plastic in it only around the cd player. The rest was beautiful. The seats in the back were comfy and had leg room, the door had nice leather, rubber and suede material. The mustang is plastic all around. I test drove it and it wasnt impressive. On the highway it pulls but low 1st gear and 2nd wasnt what I had in mind. The salesman took me to a open place with no cars around and told me to take it to 5k rpm and drop the clutch. I was like woah this guys crazy but I did it anyway then chirped going to 2nd and 3rd. Its a goodcar. I rather have a cobra but after owninga ford and seeing the differenceI wont buy another one especially one that has worse interrior. I found a gto 05 35k miles 100k/5 year warranty for 19k but might let it go for 18 but Im thinking about it because its dark blue and has 35k miles.

Gas prices are still going up and california has the worst prices ive heard. 6.0 liters engine right now for SOME would be a killer gas wise, i hopeu can afford that i could not . good luck on it

Gas is KILLLLING ppl here. I dont drive much and Im always on the highway. The 6.0 not that much of a difference than my 4.6 is it? I can do 16-17 mpg on street with the 4.6 and 22-23 on highway.

A) you are used to the rawness of the mustangs acceleration where you can feel it in your ass

B) you suck at launching

the GTO can skip off a 4-5 second 0-60 quite easily with a 1.5K launch with care on the throttle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFDEZXaSscc

^^^ 2nd day having the car... just under 5 second 0-60 with wheelspin and TC on, plus almost all of first was at 1/2 throttle

accelerating in the goat is like accelerating in a benz or a BMW.... it actually rides smoother than the lincoln once on the highway, after the initial jolt you get from the gear it just feels like you are in a sailboat at WOT

@ cacimar... my 4 speed 6.0L got 24MPG on the way to muskegon last weekend, a stick would get much better

I was expecting to fall back into the seat but it did ride like a benz it felt faster as it went. I didnt try launching it right I just wanted to fish tail. I could learn to launch it pretty well with some practice. How do you like your car so far morbid? How many miles did your have?

44K on mine so far and I will tell you the same thing I tell everone I talk to

best car I've ever owned.... hands down

as biased as it might sound I assure you it's not... it's like someone took my old mustang combined it with my old LS1 WS6 and then gave it the ride of my lincoln

My 05' 6 speed would get 28 MPG Highway,Get to 145 mph pretty damn quick and feel rock steady doing it.Overall the GTO was a really quality car,Ecpecially on the inside. The factory stereo left a lot to be desired but if you sneak in the drivers side rear 1/4,You can turn up the gain on the amp for some more power.Cheap mod.Once you get used to the strange feeling that the independent rear suspension gives you,You will realize that these were a hell of a deal at 32K new!I've owned plenty of new high performance cars as well as old ones and the GTO felt more steady at 145+ than my 07' Vette. If you can get an 05'-06' with low miles for less than 20K,Do it and you won't regret it.The Automatics are quicker and easier to launch than the 6 speeds. On the open road the 6 speeds will win every time.I've had one of each. The only down side is aftermarket support is more expensive than it is for the Mustang,Oh yeah,And the fuel tank is in the trunk.Didn't care for that too much.
