This is for my Bronco, not my Mustang. [Flame suit on.] I know this is a Mustang-specific site, but I figured I'd post my question here, since I don't really go to any Bronco sites and I've never been to a car audi-specific discussion site. I've driven Mustangs for 18 straight years, so mustangforums is where I hang out. That being said...

My Bronco's system is dead. The aftermarket system is 10+ years old, and (I think) the ocean air here has killed what little life it had to start with. So I'm looking to start from scratch.

Here is what I'd like to achieve:
-- Under $1,000 for the equipment only (not including labor)
-- Component speakers for the front
-- One or two subs
-- Very basic head unit (no XM, no navigation, no dvd -- I have that in my other rides)
-- i-pod compatible

I listen to all types of music in my truck, except classical (my 6-CD changer currently is filled w/ Rush, Dwight Yoakam, Cypress Hill, Metallica, Fishbone, and 311). I like to listen to my music loud and for the bass-heavy (i.e., rap) stuff to come through clearly. But I don't want to compromise sound quality. To give you an idea of my stereo taste -- my home system has Carver amps (that I bought in '93) bridged to drive old school Monitor Audio speakers (which were made when all of Monitor's stuff was still made in the U.K. and they weren't selling lesser quality speakers through Magnolia).

Thanks in advance for your help.

go to onlinecarstereo.com they have great deals! I reccommens this system
1.)Alpine CDE-9874 - $145 (has full speed ipod connection)
2.)Alpine MRP-F450 - $185 (4 channel amplifier for fronts and rears)
3.)Diamond Audio S600s - $199 (these are 6 1/2's not sure what size u need in the front?)
4.)Alpine SWX-1243D - $255 (12" sub)
5.)Alpine MRP-1000 - $289 (Class D amp)

TOTAL=$1073.00 (just 73 bucks over your $1000 mark and this would sound awesome!)

* I would custom build a ported box for the sub if I was you and possibly get a set or rears for fill there is some cheap ones on the site but i didnt want to go too far over your budget.

Other good name brand stuff is JL audio, MB Quartz, Arc Audio, and for amps only Rockford, Memphis, and Kicker other then that I dont have too much experience with any other audio products. I currently run Apline head units in boht my vehicles along w diamond audio and memphis audio, but will be getting rid of memphis to switch to Alpine PDX amps

^^ thats one way to go(overpriced and sub-par) but if i were you id keep looking around and do some research.

DD/AQ/FI/TREO/MMAts/Focal/Cdt/Dls/ these are products you should be looking at before u make a 1000$ mistake. Our go the ed route (i had bad luck with there amps) but u can get some decent equip for very lil money from them and would blister that setup listed above

Dude is MMats still around? We used to carry it in WI back when the Juggernauts first came out, those thing were SICK! My buddy had 2 Juggernauts with 4 MMats class D's in his Integra I could even sit in the damn thing it was so loud! As far as Alpine amps they r ok def. not top of the line but like he said hes only spending a 1000 bucks! Focal is def good too but expensive! Like I said those are pretty much the equipment that I have had personal experience with before the stuff you listed I have no knowledge about so thats why I didnt reccommend it. Unlike alot of people (not saying you) I only talk about things ive had personal experience with. Im not one of those guys whos knows something about everything, like my best friend! LOL Just out of curiousity what is DD/AQ/ and FI?

If I had $1000 for a stereo right now I would buy...

HU: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4953 $280

Comps and Amp: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_23_128&products_id=659 $375

Subs: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?products_id=721 2 @ $70 = $140

Sub Amp: http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_22&products_id=44 $350 (They should give you a better deal with everything else you are buying, just call them to order)

Thats a couple hundred bucks over budger, but damn it would be amazing...

Just for S and G's, what do you currently have in the car. You might actually have some amps that would work great because most people don't make them like they used to.

Thanks for laying that out for me, complete with links. It looks like a good system. I've never heard Elemental Designs' stuff before. Does anyone here actually have their speakers installed in their ride?

Nope but I have heard Diamond Audio and you cant go wring with the Hex series comp's I dont care what anyone says. I have been a audio fan for 12 years and next to Canton and Focal (which are very expensive) Diamond Hex series is the best youll get for the price. Look at onlinecarstereo.com i think they are runnin in the 2's for a set, trust me youll love em.
