O2BlkGT 05-01-2005, 10:53 PM I work at Autozone and I know we carry paint for "frabic and vinyl" and other interior paints. I have no personal experience with these but I'd pick up a can and test is out some where where you can't see it for instance under the drivers side dash. 00GT00 05-02-2005, 05:47 AM The vinyl paint works pretty good. But if you want OEM pieces try, http://www.stangparts.com/. They have good quality 'take off' parts! YinYangStang 05-02-2005, 09:58 AM I didn't have any luck with fabric paint. I had seats in one of my cars that were black, but had a red and blue confetti pattern ( it was weirdly awful). Anyway, I bought black fabric paint and all it did was make it darker, didn't cover up anything. Choppa 05-02-2005, 06:58 PM when u paint the interior the paint doesnt make a big differnece on wat u use but u do want to clean the part really good. also the pieces that ford makes with that nasty rubber coating like on the door handles and sumtimes around the radio, u want to sand that off or the paint will smear when touched and will look awful. also make sure you use clear coat this will give it a nice shine, ull be able to clean it with many cleaners without worry, and will jus give the surface extra protection. Alright, cool. I'm gonna pick up some black paint and a lot of clear. I'll post pics when I'm done painting. I can't wait, I'm gonn have a two tone black and tan interior, hopefully it will be eventually all black :D Obselite 05-02-2005, 07:11 PM here's the step by step with pics on how to do it: http://mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/interiorpnt/interiorpaint.htm i have all the stuff (even a bottle of the green paint that matches my car from paintscratch.com) and am going to do it as soon as weather allows it. Im here in ohio, pretty cold still :( JonBeast 05-02-2005, 07:21 PM ORIGINAL: Obselite here's the step by step with pics on how to do it: http://mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/interiorpnt/interiorpaint.htm i have all the stuff (even a bottle of the green paint that matches my car from paintscratch.com) and am going to do it as soon as weather allows it. Im here in ohio, pretty cold still :( Thanks Bro! Jimmz 05-02-2005, 09:27 PM With door panels get them proffesionally done from an auto body shop like I did. It comes out the best and matches the car perfectly. They'll match the paint from your car and itll look awesome with the clear coat and everything, cuz you'll even get the metallic flake in the paint. Just make sure they prep it right and use primer. It should cost around 50 bucks to do both, i got mine done for free but he told me thats how much he'd charge which isnt bad. You wont be dissapointed. Dont use the crap they have at kragen or autozone theres no comparison to how it looks, and it wont melt or anything. Mine doesnt even feel like plastic, it feels like the exterior of my car! I don't recommend doing it yourself especially since you havent done it before. You might be spending more money on fixing it IF you mess up than just paying a few extra dollars getting it done the RIGHT WAY. thats the best advice I can give you.... hope everything works out SShadowSSin 05-02-2005, 10:25 PM I have heard that Dyeing them is the best way to do it. No paint, just same old plastic...treat it like plastic, still looks like plastic. Can be matched with the outside. I tried the Plasti-Kote (Spelling?) and it softened up after a few weeks...not good stuff. Good luck ryan1994mustang 05-02-2005, 11:53 PM hey jonbeast, if you have tan leather that is in very good conditionin your car and are doing a whole tan to black switch then i would be interested in buying the seats off of you. mine are cracked and worn in the front. Mine are cracked too, but still in decent shape. I'll keep you in mind if I decide to swap the seats. I'll have to compare pricing, thanks for the imput. Jimmz 05-03-2005, 12:19 AM You could do that but it will most likely be more expensive, and it wont look as good. Just let a body shop paint them to match the color of your car, I dont know if you saw my pics but here are my door jams, I love em and its the best way to paint interior pieces.... ;) local://upfiles/5195/8C13EC74C86E46FCBC630DA2890EF972.jpg local://upfiles/5195/8DD7C09C82254034BBC63BD114BFA681.jpg JonBeast 05-03-2005, 12:27 AM ORIGINAL: Jimmz You could do that but it will most likely be more expensive, and it wont look as good. It would look [:-] if I painted them to my body color of green. I'm gonna get a bunch of my interior pieces painted black. Jimmz 05-03-2005, 12:37 AM Yeah man it would look awesome in black too!! especially because youll have the metallic flake in them too! just have them paint it OEM ford black, it looks soo good the clear coat really sets it off ;) If I were you Id just do the door jamz and the center piece that goes along your ac vents all the way down to you shifter. Then see how you like it because anymore MIGHT be too much, so just see how you like it, im getting the center piece done as well, but like i said before i got it done for free along with my front bumper and I didnt want to take advantage of the guy so Im gonna wait a little while so he doesnt think im spoiled lol JonBeast 05-03-2005, 12:49 AM Heres my interior right now: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y115/JonBeast/interior.jpg I'm going to go to junkyards and se eif I can get some door panels and othe pieces, I'm going ALL black. I agree, I think with some black seats and black door bezels it will look sweet. I found some door panels on ebay for real cheap, im gonna hit the junkyards and see what I can find. Anyone wanna trade back leather seats for tan?? 1994mustang...I will sell you my seats If I can pick up some black ones. Caldwell 05-03-2005, 04:08 PM Good luck with that interior paint job! but why all black? http://home.cogeco.ca/~dcaldwell25/beforecrapchop.jpg http://home.cogeco.ca/~dcaldwell25/cx5a.jpg Obselite 05-03-2005, 04:35 PM its true that you may not want to do it if its your first time..but it was mine too, and im only 17...came out beautifully! under 20 bucks for everything...i dunno how you were gonna get it for 50 bucks..i got quoted 70 bucks per bezel..and that was the lowest i found out of 4 stores! JonBeast 05-03-2005, 05:36 PM ORIGINAL: Caldwell Good luck with that interior paint job! but why all black? I think I'm going to do the top half of my doors like in your car. Is that painted like that? Leadfoot 05-03-2005, 06:29 PM Personally, I don't understand why Ford did the 2-tone to begin with. I think it's gross. Is that painted like that? yes sir JonBeast 05-04-2005, 09:22 PM What do you guys think about covering intrerior pieces with Vinyl. My friend did some things in his car and it looks awesome. He said he could do my door panels for me. He said it would come out better than trying to paint it ourselves, which is now out of the question. So I am going to this local junkyard this weekend to try to find some black door panels, if not we are going to cover parts in black vinyl. Sound like a good idea? I wish I had pics, it looks sweet. Hes done it to his visors and door panels. Obselite 05-04-2005, 10:56 PM hey..for those of you w/ door jams, do they cover the whole bezel nicely? JonBeast 05-05-2005, 12:58 AM ORIGINAL: Obselite hey..for those of you w/ door jams, do they cover the whole bezel nicely? Do you mean the stick on ones you can buy? I think they look really cheap. JonBeast 05-05-2005, 08:50 PM What do you guys think of this setup, I painted it in photoshop, I really like it. Before: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y115/JonBeast/InteriorUnPainted.jpg After: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y115/JonBeast/InteriorBlack.jpg Obselite 05-05-2005, 09:55 PM i think it will look nice! hella good photo shop too! mustang_montana 05-05-2005, 10:47 PM i like it! you might wanna consider a replacement carpet (black) not sure how well it would look but they keep clean a lot better. my interior is grey and the stock carpet was also, i put in the black carpet a couple weeks ago, looks so much better now. just need to get that passenger side bolt removed so i can finish it though [:@] JonBeast 05-08-2005, 02:47 AM Like so? http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y115/JonBeast/Interior1copy.jpg Is anyone looking to sell an OEM black steering wheel?? Leadfoot 05-19-2005, 09:25 AM ORIGINAL: JonBeast ORIGINAL: Leadfoot Personally, I don't understand why Ford did the 2-tone to begin with. I think it's gross. Is yours the same way? No, my car is entirely black -- interior, exterior and convertible roof. I have ridden in lots of cars that were two toned and just didn't like it. Fallstar01 05-19-2005, 06:04 PM Get an FR500 Steering Wheel (keeping the center and column tan. I really like the doors and carpet but I don't like the AC Vent painted black. joshua029 04-19-2007, 07:54 PM i painted mine by myself and i think its turning out great. decided to do it cause of the terrible shape the interior was in when i bought it. http://www.mustangforums.com/m_3076014/tm.htm |
