To those of you who have boomtubes...are they too loud for a daily driver? I commute at least 30 miles a day. Can a passenger fall asleep?

If your commute is all highway/freeway, I agree... 5th gear keeps the RPMs in the low 2s, so not too loud at all. If your 30 mile commute is stop-n-go, or involves a lot of RPM range, you might get some drone. Keep the RPMs low, and you should be OK. My buddy has Boomtubes and at WOT, they'll make your back teeth float. Starfire 05-02-2008, 10:05 AM lol I've been thinking about getting these but all I here is "No they don't drone" and "Yes they do drone" It would be nice to have a straight answer... Back N Black 05-02-2008, 02:29 PM My wife has fallen asleep multiple times in the car on the way home from her family's place about 30 miles away. As far as drone, in 5th at 80, yes you can hear them if the radio and A/C or Heater is OFF. Either one of those on and you won't hear it unless you're trying to hear your car. Riptide 05-02-2008, 04:42 PM They drone around 1800-2000RPM. If your passenger is a light sleeper then that might pose a problem if the car is cruising in that range. AmericanMuscle4.6GT 05-02-2008, 05:40 PM really, you have to like be accelerating to hear it. if your just cruising, its barely audible. almost too quiet. but if you want, beautiful v8 noise is just a downshift away, and it wakes right up, doing the same for your passenger:D Riptide 05-02-2008, 05:42 PM I agree but even a light push on the pedal (forget downshifting) when in the 1800-2K range really pushes up the drone to audible levels. It doesn't bug me, I'm just stating a fact. |
