I know that this kind of question does not completely make sense but I am asking anyway I am planning a funny afternoon at the race track with a couple of friends (M Roadster, Boxster 2.7L, Mustang 2007 GT and BMW 335ci 2008) and would like to have your opinion.
What would be an approximate quarter-mile for my 67 with stock 289, recently rebuilt, with Edelbrock performer intake, 600cfm 4bbl carb, Hooker super competition long tubes and a T5 with 2.79 rear end?
I just want to be prepared (and eventually order some nice AFRs )
This is a pretty cool site, which documents many new and vintage factory stock car's 0-60 and 1/4 mile times as tested by various organization (Road & Track, Motor Trend, etc...).
This site has a '67 390 ci w/4spd at 15.6 seconds 1/4 mile.
They have a '66 289 auto at 17.9 seconds.
It doesn't specify the rear gear ratio on any of this, but I would bet that if Ford gave a magazine a car to test for 1/4 mile time, they would NOT give them one with 2.79 gears in it.....you might should expect even slower times than projected by the others.

on the same site you find: 1964 Ford Mustang (289ci V8 w/4spd) 7.5 15.7 he's got a T5 not an auto. so high 15 seems fine according to that as well (and my guess is that 15.7 was nailed by someone who knows how to drive a 1/4mile)

Yeah, the site does state that the car is being driven by an expert. I was just going by the fact that the 390 was pretty slow....I guess the 289 could be a lot lighter and actually be quicker.
Remi, let us know how you run... good or bad I'd be interested in seeing what your combo does.
