0-60 time and launch question PLZ HELP

adarraza -> 0-60 time and launch question PLZ HELP (5/1/2008 10:15:55 AM)

I have a 07 auto with a JLt CAI, bama 93 race tune and true dual flowmaster exhaust with h pipe. what do you think my 0-60 would be as well as my 1/4 and what do you think my estimated hp and torque is at the crank and not at the crank(like what the motor actually is making before transmission loss)? is what is the fastest way to launch if i was racing from a stand still.

For the first ?, you should find a local dyno near you and have your car dyno'd.

it should cost about $60 (some more, some less..) and it will give you many of the things you are asking for.

Secondly, your "one wheel burnouts" are the result of an open differential, somethin that comes standard on our v6's.

The best thing to do is to get a T-Lok (or detroit true track.. etc..) and get power to both wheels. To get the car to "hook up," or launch better, you need stickier tires.

i understand that but can u just estimate the numbers thats all im wondering. and for the 2nd i understand what is happening i just am wondering what is the fastest way to launch from takeoff

Fred Malibu -> RE: Quick Questions (5/2/2008 5:52:59 AM)

some mags are testing 0-60 in 6.6 and 6.8, but ive heard people have come out with 7.1.. depends on your mods..

you should be lower with your mods.

buy a dashhawk and make it do it for you [;)]

adarraza -> RE: Quick Questions (5/2/2008 7:34:36 AM)

shouldnt it be in the high fives or low sixes? anyone with any idea?

trust me i would but im 17 and flat broke. so can anyone please help me?

landon.moss -> RE: Quick Questions (5/2/2008 3:16:51 PM)

im running anywhere from 6.3-6.7ish (stopwatch timed) stock (just a hi-flow fliter, that's it) really lookin forward to getting the tuner and intake....i'd say low 6s for tune and intake...maybe high 5s, but pry right around 6

i've found that shifting the auto yourself can get faster 0-60s than if you just leave it in drive

idk what the 15 or whatever hp you get from the intake and tune would translate into for timed runs, but pry not HUGE difference

xyster -> RE: Quick Questions (5/2/2008 5:14:44 PM)

Yeah if you can time the shifts with your auto, it will run alot quicker and you'd have more control over your start. I don't really know if this would have any other side effect that would harm your car though. I do this every so often when I need to really get passed some of the idiots on the roads from a dead stop.

These are 1/4 mile times of some of the sixxxers around here.

adarraza -> RE: Quick Questions (5/2/2008 5:32:28 PM)

how do u guys do it with shifting by yourselfs like wat do u rev it to and ****

landon.moss -> RE: Quick Questions (5/2/2008 6:59:34 PM)

do u have an auto? with mine, i go up to around 5000 or so and shift(i don't redline it)...and it will RUN like that...that's where the power is made on these motors anyways, i believe...don't do it too much - just when i feel the need to put a lil smirk on my face after work(i drive a SUPER slow truck all day...0-60 on it is about 20 seconds FYI), but i've taken all my cars pretty far and not had any problems ever - "built ford tough" LOL

if you have a manual...hmmm...i haven't driven a manual mustang, but i'm assuming you could pry drop it around 2500??? idk really...if you wanted to take off in my stick cars that's all the higher i revved...but i usually just drive normal...clutch and gas evenly for smooth takeoff[:D]

adarraza -> RE: Quick Questions (5/2/2008 11:26:33 PM)

how do u take off do u powerbrake and rev to like 2500

landon.moss -> RE: Quick Questions (5/2/2008 11:38:08 PM)

you really shouldn't even have to rev that high - i'm just assuming that by 2500 you should about be spinning the back wheel....if you're holding the brake, just gettting the motor revved up a lil bit should give you the take off you need without the unwanted wheelspin/burnout, unless you wanna do that, but if you're going for speed and acceleration, you want as lil spin as possible....

i'll go experiment tomorrow...i was out a lil bit tonight, but it's been raining, so just taking off normal is spinning the tires[8D]

oh, and while i was playing in the rain, i noticed i do wait til almost 5500 before going to 2nd, so still not redlining[:D]

landon.moss -> RE: Quick Questions (5/3/2008 5:50:58 PM)

well, i didn't get as much playing done as i hoped, but hold the brake with it in first....i got up to around 1800 before wheel started to spin...then take off...wasn't runnin too fast today, but my 200 pound brother was in there with me adn a full tank of gas[8D]

shb5007 -> RE: Quick Questions (5/3/2008 9:52:29 PM)

Not sure about 0-60 cause I never really have looked into that stat.

As far as the 1/4 mile you should be in the low 15's.

Mustang_guy17 -> RE: Quick Questions (5/4/2008 7:58:27 PM)

I have the same tune and a steeda cai, mrt aero turbine axel back. and here is my 0-90 video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEFVgI03hwY
