I had a problem with my 02 mustang where a friend of mine was professionally installing vinyl racing stripes and pulled up a big line of paint. We took it to the dealer and they said it was a faulty factory paint job since the primer never sealed well to the hood. But Ford wont do anything cause the car is too old. I was just wondering if anyone else with an 02 stang had this problem where you could just put masking tape on the hood and peel off paint and primer all the way to the plastic.

Ouch, won't be trying that just to let you know though...I've got a 2000 Mustang and from what I can tell the paint is sorta weak. There's a bad spot on the hood of my car, it has some bubbles and the clear coat is gone. I don't know what the previous owner did to it but when I bought it I didn't even notice it until awhile after I got it...Pisses me off but I'm getting a GT this summer anyway so oh well.

haha yeah, when i got it it had a small spot of paint missing. The whole idea of the racing stripes was to cover it up without repainting. Never guessed it was so weak masking tape could pull it up. Apparently neither did the installer, so now im getting a good deal on a repainted hood
