Here are a couple of pics of my 15 year old son's first car. It is a 71. He had the rear spoiler added and got a new 4bbl carb & intake for Christmas. He will be turning 16 in July and can't wait to get his license. Let him know what you think of it.....Tank.

Actually he's not like most kids. I have raised him around old cars, I have an old Poncho myself.
He is very meticulous when it comes to his car. He takes really good care of it. He has worked very hard the last two summers to save some money for it and he is not going to rag it out.

BTW...we are rednecks ;)

Beautiful car, the 1971 Mustangs are easily some of my favorite. I say keep the rear spoiler, it adds a lot and in a good way. Has he ever considered a chin spoiler?

well, my first was the 71 plymouth in the "members other rides section" with a built up 440...everyone said i'd be dead and the car wrecked...5 years later, we're both still kickin'

sweet car BTW i drive by one every day that's like a gunmetal color...sweet

i'm not much on the rims either, but they do have the "look" the oldercars should have

Actually these are the wheels that came on the car when we bought it. He wants to change them, but I won't let him....yet. I would like to see some of the Magnums on there...he likes the more modern style wheels. No way he is putting any big wheels on there...lol.

Thanks for all the comments. He likes to hear them!

17" torque thrust II's r newer rims...although they r a new take on a classic rim...but still they r "newer"

and there is no reason why u couldnt do the torque thrust II's they look sick on anything. hell u could even stay old school and do the 16" torque thrust d's, they make them in just about any size u want.

Nice - I personally like the rear spoiler, and nothing wrong with the rims though an upgrade to something less "standard" (but still classic-looking) might indeed be in order. Chin spoiler - yeah - that would be a nice added touch, imho.

...i think maxersloan was referring to brian1570's Camaro, with the Torque Thrust rims (which works, because they are reminiscent of the Cragar SS's).

thats a nice car to start. When I brough my first car I only had like 600 bucks so I brough a 1998 ford Taurus I still have it, and eventhogh I have a cool new edge mustang and all that I will never sell my taurus sometimes I feel that the car is just taking up space, but the memories that comes to my mind when I ride it are atronger than my attempts to sell it. I also use my taurus everytime I have to ride with more than 4 passengers because it easily fit 6 persons. by the way I just like your son's car how it is. It looks just like a traditional classic mustang it looks great, and if it was mine I would ride it proud as it looks now and forever. Just like your son is standing infront of his car all proud!!!

Very cool man! There's nothin wrong with havin a nice, fast car as your first car, if your responsible. Wich, seeing as you(his dad) has had him around cars for a while, i'm sure he is. I just recently got my first car. A pristine shape '86 Mustang. I love it and take such good care of it. I have alot of friends who drive beaters and don't care much, and thats cool. But it's not hard for them to understand the carelessness stops around the stang. lol Theres nothing wrong with the wheels on thereeither, but don't go past 15's. Call me retro but anything past 16's is disgusting to me. I don't care what style rim, I hate it. Just me though. But i'm sure he'll take care of it and he will definatelly enjoy it! Can we say chick magnet to the max!?!?[sm=smiley16.gif] lol

I know this is a shot in the dark but has anyone seen the indie movie Brick? It's a sort of film noir detective movie set in a high school that came out a couple years ago. One of the villain's henchmen drives a pretty evil (yet awesome) looking black 1971 Mustang and Tank's son looks almost exactly like the guy in that picture with him leaning against the bumper, they're both stern, heavily built teens. I've been trying to find some good pics from that movie to show what I mean but i've been having trouble.
