Just had the dealer install a Hurst short throw. When comparing it to the Hurst shifter in a Shelby GT I tried, mine is much stiffer and takes more effort to get into gear. Also under hard excelleration, the 3-4 shift doesn't want to go usually very smoothly if at all. Granted the shifter is only a week old but do I need to have it adjusted or is this part of the "break in" period.
The stock shifter hard no problem going 3-4, I missed a couple 1-2 and 2-3 but never 3-4.
Do I need to get a CHE brace with torque limiters or solid bullet motor mounts?
I have the hurst, it just takes some time to get used to. There may be a break in period but nothing substantial. I also have bullet motor mounts, unfortunatley what I dont have is the motivation to install them. But as far as your question is concerned it will most likely just take a while to find the sweet spot.
it will loosen up after the bearing wears in. Very typical of this unit upon initial installation . There is NO difference between the Shelby version and the regular Hurst version
You can probably take another shifter (like the MGW) and swap the stick-n-ball with the hurst to have best of both worlds. That's what I would do...but of course I have an auto so...

A hurst handle will not work on a Mgw or vice versa.

full bolt ons minus headers and intake spacer. some suspension work, and a few appearance items = sex on wheels.
I wish I knew about the break in period. The only break in mine had was being broken when I got it. Now it's finally on it's way back to hurst so I can get a new one. POS.........sure shifts and looks great though
