i have a 97 cobra and i want to paint my calipers and leave the letters that say cobra as a metal finish, and i wondering if anyone has tried it or has any hints how to tape them off and paint around them?

you could easily just tape off the letters.  just put one big piece of tape over it and then trim out the letters with an exacto knife and then paint it.  i know some places also make decals as well.

Don't forget to polish the letters with steel wool before you tape them off and paint, that way they are shiny when you are finished and don't have to try to polish them while the rest is already painted and scratch it up.

you can put vasoline on the letters, just a thin layer on the letters, then after you paint the calipers and they dry just wipe off the vasoline cause the paint wont penitrate the vasoline.

Yeah but if you use vasoline it might be tough to get sharp lettering.
