Hey just wanted to know if anyone here has done this yet. I bought an adapter to convert my power steering to manual. The guy I got it from said just remove the control valve and put on the adapter instead. Now I already removed the pump, belts and hoses. In the process of removing the control valve. Should I remove the power cylinder too? Since I won’t be using steering fluid anymore.

remove everything, that's what i did when i found out the valve and everything was f'd up from the previous owner which is why i converted to manual.

are you gonna sell the rack and pinion? or do you need it?

i converted to manual form power.

just take the pump, control valve, ran cylinder, and belt and hoses off. no need for the cylinder since thats what makes it power steering right? so get rid of it.

keep it all though and take it to a mustang shop cause theyll give you money for all the parts.

what i did was take my centerlink+valve to a mustang shop to see if it was rebuildable and it was so they gave me the manual steering parts in trade for the power steering centerlink. dont just junk the power steering stuff cause its valuble.

whatever you do, keep the parts in case you want to sell the car again or only the power steering kit.
Why on earth do people change to manual? my car is a bitch trying to park without it ...

it doesnt "float" as much on the road. you can "feel" the road more without the ps. and about the parking, you just gotta be like this:

I was going to remove all the power stuff from my 67 because I hated the lack of feedback in the steering. Before I did I decided to try a larger pulley on the pump and it make a big enough difference that I am not removing the power steering now.

i have so much play in my manual steering that I'd never figured that ;-)
