You are not proud to have liberated millions of Afghanis from under the heel of the Taliban? Ask the Afghani women if their life is not better relieved of the Taliban.
You are not proud of the fact that Sadaam no longer is running state sponsored rape rooms and filling mass graves with people and then burying them alive? You are not proud of the fact that we have spent billions helping the victims of tsunamis, earthquakes and floods around the world? Who else does this? Who? Nobody does it anywhere close to the scale on which we do it.
No country in the history of this planet has had as much power and wielded it more benevolently (sp?) than the United States has. We have fed and provided medicine for billions on this planet who otherwise would have gone without. We have lifted the yoke of tyranny from untold billions. We, as a nation, have elevated the international standard of living beyond what most would have believed possible even 50 years ago.
I shudder to think what this world would look like were it not for America. Europe entirely encased behind the Iron Curtain or more likely, still under control of the Third Reich. The entire western Pacific, to include Austrailia, under the control of the Empire of Japan. Talk to people who lived under Japanese rule. Absolutely tragic and hideous conditions. You laugh, but who else could have defeated them? Who?
Most of you are too young to remember just what a very real threat the Communists, facists, and dictators were/are.
Were the United States not there to stem the tide of evil governents there would have been no stopping their advancement. For those of you who dismiss this and say, 'so what', go visit a communist country. Go see just what it is like to live under constant fear and REAL oppression is like. Go live in a country where the police state controls your every action and thought. I have seen this with my own eyes and would suggest many of you do the same for your own education.
It is easy to look at the world from the nice, safe, cozy bubble in which we live and talk about how terrible we are. But once you get beyond our borders, and our allies borders the world becomes a much different and much more dangerous place.
While we may be far from perfect, we have done MUCH to be proud of. We have provided the good people of this world hope while giving the enemies of freedom and self-determiniation very real reason for pause.
May God continue to Bless America, in spite of the liberal/social attempts to secure the contrary.

i am proud of our country but not for these reasons....i wont even pretend to give a **** about the lives of these savage camel jockeys running through the desert...do i give a **** about freeing afghans?...no...i thought the plan was to wipe them all out after 9/11...afghani women can show their faces now....oh joy...as for sadaam....personally i think he was doing a damn good job with what he had to work with...look at how they are running wild now...tribal warlords grabbings control of spots like any common street gang....at least people could hang out when sadaam was in charge...and i'll tell ya something...i did serve my country and i still do...but i admired sadaam....its the measure of a man what he does in the face of his mortality....i watched the video when the hung sadaam...say what you will about the guy...he stood tall...he walked bravely to the noose while they were spitting at him and throwing ****...he said "**** you" to them before they hung him...no begging...no pleading....i admired that...i have been in harms way for this country for most of my adult life protecting it from all enemies foreign and domestic but i dont blame that obama chick for what she said...if i were indian, african, chinese or jewish i'm not sure i would sing about how great america is either

meh, i woulda demil'd our nuke sotckpile in afghanistan personallythat way no one can live there ever again, and as far as Iraq goes, nothing the public says matters to the pentagon, nothing the prez says matters directly, nothing congress says matters at a time of war...all those can do is cut funding which in turns hurts my brother in arms, and for that **** politics in war, war is meant to kill the other guys. war is meant to be bad, war should be wipe out the enemy entirely. every man woman child goat dog, cow pig. Im not picky, if you leave a trace of the "old regime" it can come back. well thats my rant on war politicians dont know what goes on in war (save for a few vets) so they need to STFU and GTFO

how about america would never have been attacked ever if they just kept their ****ing hands out of peoples business , never put up national bases , never aided the allys in WW2...
ignorant ass.
look at Canada no one gives a **** about them and they are the safest ****s around because there arent arrogant ass US IMPERIALISTS trying to police the world.
**** POST FOUNDING FATHER GOVERNMENT!!!
Intersting thought about Canada but I think the main reasons no one touches them or Mexico is because the U.S. would be so quick to interfere, it is not because they never get into peoples business, we have seen coutries in history get dominated for no reason, well unless you consider things like genocide a (good) reason?
Were you being sarcastic when you said we should have stayed out of WW2?
Pearl Harbor happened because we aided England in WW2.
9/11 happened because we are actively involved in the middle east.
as for us protecting Canada look at other countries that are safe because they stay put
south africa? New Zealand? Australia?
we should have never set up any military base in the middle east or have even talked to them about anything other then trade. Just trade goods and let culture be culture. Its not my business to get involved in Islam or Terrorism , when you do , it brings it over here as we saw in 9/11.

If you don't like Obama then don't vote for him. That video was pathetic BTW. However I can never EVER see myself voting for flip-flopping John McSame who gives me nothing as president of the United States.
1) John McCain wants to keep the tax cuts that he called "irresponsible" and "hurt his conscious." These same tax cuts have brought us into greater defecits and increased inflation. FACT 2) John McCain has voted 7 times against Veterans benefit packages bills but says he supports veterans. FACT 3) John McCain was Pro-abortion and now he is against it. FACT 4) John McCain took 13 seconds to flip-flop on gay marriage. FACT. 5) John McCain does not want to give me Universal health care, instead he wants people to continue with a system that discriminates against people with genetically predetermined diseases. FACT. 6) John McCain wants us to stay in the Iraq even though 70% of Americans dont. FACT. 7) John McCain says he is against torture but yet is for waterboading. FACT. 8) John McCain says he supports our troops but has voted against the GI bill in congress. FACT. 9) John McCain wants to impose a "Gas Holiday" but offers no way to make up for the funds that keep our highways repaired and bridges built...and the 317,000 jobs that would lost because of this "gas holiday". FACT. 10) John McCain says he was never for Amnesty but yet he specifically sponsored a bill that created amnesty for illegals. FACT.
Give me Obama ANYDAY of the week over Flip Flopping John McSame.
At least he votes on issues unlike other politicians who just vote present, perhaps Obama would have voted for a bill to instate Black Liberation Theology? Do you ever change your mind? People do realize they were wrong, and to be honest I am not a McCain fan but, I believe in what he says and what he will do for this country. He is definitely the lesser of three evils, I would even call hime good.

Didnt read any posts, and don't care to watch the video.
From what I've gathered in speeches and debates between the democratic candidates, Obama seems to be by far the more intellectual one. His ideas are all hunky dorey in that he would like to improve our standing with nations across the globe. He wants everyone to be able to afford going to college, he'd love for the economy to rebound (though technically, it was a slow growth, not recession ).
His plans, or lack thereof however, turn me off completely. His voting record is among the most, or perhaps the most liberal of anyone in congress. If he's going to raise my taxes which he will, make it benefit everyone. Not just the poor who either can't or choose not to take care of themselves. Leave taking care of people to state governements.
McCain was my 3rd favorite (or 2nd least favorite) among the 4 possible nominations. Honestly, if the American people wanted the economy taken care of, why didnt they nominate Romney, I dont know.
He's not my first choice for president, but I'll vote for him before bleeding hearts Obama and Clinton.

Man, SXGT, that is such a head in the sand approach.
I think the case could be effectively made that as a result of the United States engaging in isolationism between WWI and WWII, we had WWII. While we were in our bubble, Hitler, ToJo and Musselini (sp?) laid the groudwork and made their plans. We sat idly by.
Witness the results.
What if the United States had ignored the Soviets and their military advances and designs more than we did? What would the world look like today? I think it is a pretty safe bet that all of Europe, Asia, the Middle East and God knows how much of Africa and the rest would be under their control even still.
Do you people not comprehend this?
Imagine that little gargoyle in North Korea off his chain. Were it not for the United States, "sticking its nose in other peoples business", South Korea would not exist. The entire Korean penninsula would be under his or his ilks control. North and South Korea exist as neighbors but their standards of living could not be more different. Check out the videos from North Korea on YouTube. Chilling.
Left unchecked, Sadaam could have brought the oil flowing out of the middle east to a screeching halt overnight. Had he taken a mind to, who in that neighborhood could have stopped him? He had stated designs to combine the middle east under his domain. Who could have stopped him? Again I ask, who? The Saudis? Egyptians? I seriously doubt it. Have you seen their militarys? I have. Not impressive. At. All.
Turn off the oil and now you are really messin' with a sumbitch. Try to imagine the INSTANT international turmoil. To borrow a term from my good friend Ashram, *woof*.
The denial of evil and its intentions does not make the threat disappear. It makes it more dangerous.
Again, I submit that most of you do not know nor appreciate what a very real threat the bad guys in this world are.

That is the best video I have watched in a long time.
Obama FTL
I'm not completely happy with the Republican party's nomination of McCain, but anything is better than Obama. I don't see how anyone can want to make a man with communist and terrorist ties our next president.

I am proud of the rights we have but I am not proud of our current state of affairs. Where have we gone in the past 7 yrs? Two unfunded wars, hundreds of thousands of jobs shipped overseas, inflation on the rise, our civil liberties eroded, and a government that doesn't seem to give a **** about its citizens.
So I really can't blame anybody for not being proud of where we are at right now. We have pretty much downgraded ourselves for the past 7 yrs.

Like I said earlier I thought the video was great and it does make some great points, but it is definitely not the defining or influencing factor of why I am not voting for Obama. I am a Republican, and McCains views align more with my politics than either of the other candidates.
If I voted upon what the media says, I would definitely be a Democrat, but then again I love a good dosing of Fox News!

None of these other countries are world superpowers... Somehow the U.S. got there by doing what its doing, amazingly they got by and rose to world superpower status without listening to you and your educated and mature ideas.... Why do stay here?
That just shows how ****ing clueless you are. We are funding this war by signing away T-bills to china to pay for it which we are paying back more to them in interest. Our war is being funded by money we do not have.
This war and every government program is funded by $ we do not have. Social Security, the debt, Medicade, medicare, all of it is puffery. This war is every bit as funded as those programs are.
Don't presume to tell me what I don't know.
