Last Friday, My dad and I went to the local cruise night with my svo. When we where about to leave, I went to start the car and it had some idling problems. Most of the time it starts and idles fine. When it starts acting up, it turns over perfectly, then idles at 800rpm then drops to 400rmp, then stalls all under 5 seconds. I would hold the throttle at about 2k for about 5 seconds then released it and it just stalled. It took over 7 starting attempts for it to save it's self and idle at 800rmp. It was a bit embarrassing to have all the people looking at this rare car that is in almost perfect body condition, but sounds like it runs like sh*t!
I replaced most of the vacuum lines and checked all the others about 3 weeks ago alone with a complete tune up. Checked them again once I got home that night, found nothing wrong. The line that comes from the back of the valve cover is known to come off on my car but it was perfectly snug when I popped the hood to check it after 3-4 starting attempts. Is this just a little defect in the ECU? When under a heavy load it runs fine, no leaning out or stalling. Also, what’s the proper way to start a svo? Do you wait in till the buzzer stops when you turn the key? Is the turbo being primed with new oil before it starts? I wait in till the buzzer stops, and then when I start it, it burns oil (blue tailpipe smoke) for about 5 seconds. Is that something that can be fixed? Thanks a lot T23
